RE: TVR Griffith 500: Spotted

It's really getting a bit long in the tooth trying to go on about TVR reliability. Any well looked after car will have been sorted by now so it doesn't really apply. In nearly 4 years my Chimaera has never let me down. Pound for pound they have to be the best value sports car out there.

At a recent sporting bears outing one passenger saiid mine was the most fun ride and I was up against some very desirable competition.

A car is only worth what someone will pay for it and if Griffs are selling for this much and more then long may it continue

I realised my dream when I bought my Griff a couple of years back. I've done over 10k miles now, not left me stranded so far.

Sure, it's not perfect and nor is it anywhere near the fastest from a to b.

But this is a car that's drop dead gorgeous, has a phenomenal soundtrack and delivers hugely exciting performance. Except for a few other fantastic TVR's, what else is there out there that delivers a similar package for similar money?

Can I just add I hope they don't call the new car after the Griff. Lets have a new name

Each to their own, but I can't imagine anyone seriously interested in a TVR Griff 500 is going to think of an E92 M3 as a genuine alternative!

I'd consider one a fast, loud, brash, in-your-face convertible for disturbing the local wildlife on sunny days, and the other a fast, very accomplished, discrete looking, do-everything coupe that you can use every day and park anywhere without anyone but die-hard petrolheads ever noticing it.

Very different cars, purchased for very different reasons.

+1 this, which is why I have both. You could not have two more different cars. They both just happen to have a V8, that's about it.

Actually replaced the Griff (and a 156 GTA) with an E90 M3 thinking the BMW would do both the daily drive and the weekend toy thing. Unfortunately it did neither very well and I sold it a few months later. The two favourite cars that I've owned swapped for one I regretted buying almost straight away, what an idiot!

I did the same and regretted it too, it taught me that the E92 M3 is a boring car for most of the time and there isn't such a thing as a do it all car.

Unless you spend your spare time cruising towns with your mates all looking like a 4 piece dance group from G.A.Y and referring to girls as bhes.

Its now five and a half years and 20k miles after I bought my Chimaera 500.. With the exception of a flat battery on one occasion its never failed to start, Its never broken down, and it always makes me (and a lot of other people) smile.. It gets looks of wonderment from small boys, knowing grins from Dads, and lots of thumbs ups Interestingly quite often from bikers Oh, and sometimes looks of disapproval from people in Prius's ...... Priceless

Then there's the window winding down episodes....

I could go on, but those who've had this experience will know what I'm talking about

Ahem,

Cerberus was the 3 headed dog guarding Hades. Hence Cerbera.

Er, yeah, sad I know that but I was looking at a Cerbera some time ago.
