Ugliest marque
Discussion
I think that there is no marque that makes just ugly cars IMO. Bland and ugly are 2 very different things.
Dacia, bland.
BMW, bland.
Audi, bland. Audi/BMW/VW's styling has always been evolution rather then revolution, and that's why an 05 RS4 looks lostly similar to a '15 RS4.
Mercedes make ugly cars, such as the GLA, but also make decent looking cars, like the SL. Saloon wise, the previous generation C and E class were handsome, the new ones, just aren't.

I'm gonna be the first (and possibly last) to say Alfa Romeo. I find most of their cars ugly. The front ends in particular really let them down.
Perhaps with the exception of the SV. That looks cool.
SZ you mean?Perhaps with the exception of the SV. That looks cool.
And you absolute heathen! Ill agree that not all are brilliant, but look at a 159 and tell me it isnt gorgeous. Im not a huge fan of the Giulietta and the 4C noses, but the Giulia looks stunning, and the mito imho is a very decent adaptation of 8c design into a punto sized(and based) package.
And i wouldnt trade my 14 year old 147 for any other car on the block, it just looks right.
Most of the major marques have produced something I'd be happy to own, and most of them have also made some howlers.
I had a last gen E class, and it did its job very well. Munched miles in comfort, was reasonably economical - although I only got 32mpg instead of the claimed 50+ - but I was bored of it within months on a 3 year lease. And that diesel noise on startup - shudder. When my E class went back the local Merc dealers were offering all sorts of deals to keep me in a Merc, but there wasn't a single model that interested me and would fit me, 2 boys and a large dog. The new Merc GLx range are just awful looking things. I think the G Wagon is the only one I liked.
I have a guilty like for quite a few Citroens. Love some of the quirky design features. I've never owned a French car though, and every one I have driven as a hire/loan car has been downright awful.
On Alfas.... love them. Had a 156 2.0 TS and it made me smile looking at it when I went to get in. Power for the engine size wasn't the best, fuel consumption was dire, but for me it was head and shoulders above the audis, bmws and mercs of the time because it had character.

Just fed up with lazy design
Aston Martin - one car in 4 sizesAudi - one car in 8 sizes
BMW - one car in 6 sizes, a couple of the XXXL
Maserati - one car in 2 sizes
Mercedes - one car in 5 sizes
Hyundai - one car in 4 sizes
Range Rover - one car in 3 sizes
Toyota - one car in 5 sizes
IMO a model should look like model, not a range like a range.
I have to say Mercedes. Still not the ugliest marque perhaps but the one that has the worse trend in the last 10 years. Mercedes always had very distinctive looks that barely followed the general trend, in some periods they felt outdated but retained their personality.
I am probably getting old but the only Mercedes that I like how it looks at the moment is the G-Klasse.

Toyota these day's IMO.
Yup. They have completely lost their way. All the way down to the current micro-mini thing, with its huge X on the front that continues up the sides. I don't know where this idea of angles and massive grilles came from, but they need to get past it.

Japanese just can't do "proportions" correctly it would seem... it's reflected everywhere in their culture from architecture to trains. And on the flip side of this, has anyone noticed how good the South Koreans are getting at design?
I know Kia stole Audi's previous head of design, and then they actually gave him some freedom. Result: some pretty good looking cars.
Hyundai are also getting markedly better also, although they risk veering to the dark Toyota side. I think it's them (or maybe it's Kia) that have got that new hybrid thing coming out and it looks good...
