Toyota (doesn't change the fact they built some good cars but can't think of one model old or new I've looked at and thought it was good looking.

I'd be the second to agree alpha's are top of the list for ugly cars! They know how to make them!

I like Nissan because (as far as I can make out) every model is stand-alone in terms of looks.
They make the GT-R, the Qashqai, the Leaf, the 370Z, etc. I can't think of any common characteristics in those designs.

The Corporate Look is very boring for customers IMHO. Audi need to loosen up a bit.
yes and it's what to dislike about Audi styling, in particular the A1. It might make a corporate brochure look better, but that style just doesn't work on that car. Ford have the opposite issue - the Fiesta works well, the Focus has copied that styling unsuccessfully.

Definitely has to be split between Honda and toyota though. The new civic makes me angry, people should not be paid to make a product worse.

I'm not a fan of the new Mercedes design - the melted plastic look & also none of their cars are available with the tradional grille & upright bonnet emblem.

But for me their can only be one winner & its Subaru . Have Subaru ever made a good looking car apart from the original Impreza Wrx-Sti ?

How? Skoda make somewhat bland but generally smart looking cars. Boring maybe but not ugly (roomster aside).

Bland is not ugly, so VAG models don't really apply except for the Beetle. Some Audis are good looking, although clearly not the Q7.

Porsche make good looking cars, not too everyone's taste but not what I would call ugly across the model range.

Mercedes does have some really poor designs, but not anywhere near as bad as Toyota.

Toyota is clearly forging it's own risky path and that is resulting in some hideous models.. Maybe in 10 years time we will look back and say they were ahead of their time but I doubt it.

This Thread is indeed one of those that highlights who the true appreciators of cars and motoring in general are and who the Trolls are who only actually visit PH because they have a sad and pathetic passion for whinging and denigrating are, doesn't it?

I think they left it in the oven too long.
I know the current MB styling is almost universally hated on here, but I think these look great, I like the shooting brake/estate too.

Toyota Prius is the ugliest new car I have seen recently.

Thank goodness for that, it;s not the 1970s any more. Buy an old square one if you want that nonsense!

The problem with Merc's range is it's way too try hard. Too many styling details chucked on to their vehicles and the end result is a mess. There's no cohesion and simplicity to their designs any longer. I studied industrial design many years ago and if I had had their current range to focus on back then I would have done my thesis on it!

That Japanese train looks amazing.
In real life it's huge.

The big problem with Mercedes is it seems they are aiming their design towards the yanks and the Chinese.

Tbh this was 10 years ago - the Tivoli is not too bad as with the Korando. Hell, even the Turismo is alright!
Yes, they were terrible 10 years ago.

Sorry, but no, they're still (compared to other cars) terrible looking now.

Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Oh, that's what the poster mean't. I was wondering.

Now I know that, yes you're right that's probably a banning offence. Particularly in view of the fact Alfa have made very few truly ugly cars. I conceded the paint fell off mine inside of 2 years old, but ugly, it was not. The 'breadvan' wasn't a looker, but even that's grown on me. It's not ugly.

Very few mentions of the current Mini range. The "original" Mini is good looking, but all of the derivatives including that coupe thing with the squashed roof and the Countryman are flippin' hideous.
Agree with the comments about Mercedes bling too - as someone said, aiming at the Far East consumer perhaps?

Which is perfectly normal and what we want to see - responses dealing with what we do not like about certain car designs are what this Thread requests. smile

But to exercise subjective views about a car AND see the need to make immature, unintelligent disparaging remarks about Owners of particular cars one might not rate highly in the appearance stakes is NOT wholly indicative of someone who enjoys Motoring per se and more about the failing mentality of the individual who clearly has unresolved personal issues.

Perhaps those folks should find a nice Psychological Disorders Forum to air their views on, deal with their problems and then come back to PH and share their love (or not) of cars (not the Owners) without the unnecessary, frankly stupid, vitriol?

Perhaps you are right...but then, not exactly in my opinion, hence my making the statements I typed.

The subjects of my remarks are once again making silly and unfounded generalisations about a group of people they have no experience with. I, on the other hand, have made comment about certain individuals who have made known these disparaging remarks and in effect challenged their integrity for making those remarks.

There is a difference. smile

I've been visiting PH for many years now, I'm not known for posting regularly but do enjoy reading about other's experiences with all things Motoring. However, PH has for some time now attracted very vocal Members who do not - in my opinion - fit with the ethos of what PH set out to be in that they see this as a Forum for displaying their personal frustrations about their lot in Life.

It ruins good conversation and debate about cars.

People who used to post regularly with interesting comments do so less or not at all because of this.

It's a shame.

Most UK designed low production cars, chavtastic features and amateur schoolkid styling galore. Except Lotus, bit OTT, but within limits.
