10k to put into something that will go up in value.

Porsche 968 coupe - manual
These are already on the up though.
I bought a 968 Sport ( a clubsport with a comfort recaro interior) for a song last December - It's worth 10k more than I paid for it already. To be fair the owner had owned it for 12 years and wasn't really in touch with pricing rise so I guess I dropped lucky
A good Coupe can be bought for 10ish if you look regularly. Easy to work on and not many weak points really.
Such a smart buy. These are already on the up though.

Saddens me to think how many manual 968s I passed on at significantly sub £10K prices. Was only looking coz I'd fancied a cheap 944 for some time and was suddenly able to afford something 'better'. 968 just seemed like a nicely-facelifted alternative to a 944 to my then far less Porsche-geeky self.
Now finding myself telling the same story about all the sub £10K 996 911s I passed on. I'll be on about early Boxsters sub £6K in a couple of years no doubt...
For that budget just buy something you like!
But if you are looking for appreciation you can't go far wrong with a Fast Ford - 2.8 Injection Capri or Escort Turbo! (Sierra Cosworths are out of budget now, which is an indication of how things are going)!
Mind you I made a few hundred over 2 years with my BMW Z4 Coupe, so I'm guessing anything analogue, manual and rareish can't be a bad idea!

Looks totally normal to me! Lots of tat not selling and probably some with over enthusiastic reserves.http://www.brightwells.com/ClassicCarsMotorcyclesA...
I mean an Escort sold for £17k and a Integrale Evo 1 for £30k not exactly bad. I've seen a lot of auctions like this recently.
I would have this.

Only a replica, but thats never harmed values of 2.7 lightweight reps.

I wouldn't be putting any money into cars hoping for an increase in price for some time yet. Prices have been slowly falling, lots more care haven't sold at auctions recently than usual.
I was on the verge of buying a 599 but have now decided to wait as I feel prices will fall 20% or so. I know many people are predicting a bigger fall than that.

This, a 10k investment car just doesn't really exist. They all require maintaining and upkeep which generally out ways the perceived increase in price they may achieve. There are far better ways to invest your money.I was on the verge of buying a 599 but have now decided to wait as I feel prices will fall 20% or so. Said it before, will say it again - R129 SL and probably the 500. For 10k you 'might' be able to stretch to a 600 possibly a leggy one. Not a sports car but a nice good quality refined roadster that should creep up in value if looked after.
So long as you never use it. Air con dies, that'll be £4000. Then you have the other serious mechanicals. The reality is, you'd have to double its value just to break even - if you plan to actually run such a car over the long term.Judging by the way Escort and Mk1 Sierra Cosworths have rocketed in value, it must only be a matter of time before the Sapphire goes the same way. Some have, but a few are still around for less than 10k.
Bases purely on the fact I am saving for one, the 350Z will probably go up in value! Happened with Imprezas and S2000s which seemed attainable a couple of years ago!

Was pleasantly surprised by my Z4 Coupe, but I had spent much more on keeping it sorted that it went up and I suspect the same would apply to the 350Zs, etc you have highlighted!
At this level of the market I think the best option is to buy what you want, and if it goes up a bit that is a bonus!

+1 for Z4 coupe and 350Z being 'cheeky ones' re appreciation (and sub £10K).Was pleasantly surprised by my Z4 Coupe, but I had spent much more on keeping it sorted that it went up and I suspect the same would apply to the 350Zs, etc you have highlighted!

I'll add them to the list of stuff that I fancied/ could afford but waited too long to pull the trigger on.
