10k to put into something that will go up in value.
Discussion
I'm currently weighing up a new toy. MX5 has been fun but I need to switch to 4 seats. I have the same budget as you.
I've come to the conclusion that there's no way you can know what will grow in price and what won't. And I've adopted the approach that depreciation free is the best I can hope for, so im budgeting (for running costs too) accordingly.
My short list is:-
E46 M3
996 911 (scared about ims at This level)
Monaro

Buy a Boxster S for around £5k bank the rest.
Then enjoy the car.
I am sure the price of bottom of the range Boxsters has increased slightly over the last year or two as it used to be easy to find them in the £4-£5K range. But I suspect that the loss of confidence in the second had car market due to the Brexit will mean that more and more cars will become available in this price range. Then enjoy the car.

I doubt these cars will ever increase massively in price but I am certain it will be a pretty much depreciation free car to own.

Make sure you have a decent test drive - the Monaro is very much a GT car and not as quick, nor as much fun as you'd expect unless someone has paid a lot to modify it.My short list is:-
