I'm currently weighing up a new toy. MX5 has been fun but I need to switch to 4 seats. I have the same budget as you.

I've come to the conclusion that there's no way you can know what will grow in price and what won't. And I've adopted the approach that depreciation free is the best I can hope for, so im budgeting (for running costs too) accordingly.

My short list is:-

E46 M3
996 911 (scared about ims at This level)
Monaro

I am sure the price of bottom of the range Boxsters has increased slightly over the last year or two as it used to be easy to find them in the £4-£5K range. But I suspect that the loss of confidence in the second had car market due to the Brexit will mean that more and more cars will become available in this price range.

I doubt these cars will ever increase massively in price but I am certain it will be a pretty much depreciation free car to own.

Hence my comment,a lot of fun car for little money. The Boxster S will go up, in the next five years at a steady pace.

Make sure you have a decent test drive - the Monaro is very much a GT car and not as quick, nor as much fun as you'd expect unless someone has paid a lot to modify it.

True for all of them. None are particularly sporty and running costs will probably wipe out any appreciation in value. No such thing as a £10k car to make you money IMO.

It's a bubble.

Santander 3%.

Wait for the pop.
Looks like to pop is happening by the amount on no sales in this classic car auction.

fking hell... seems to have popped already
Some great reading for car enthusiasts rather than investors though. Pug 205 Rallye for £2.7k and 89k miles looks like a bargain. Boxster for £2k. Time to get some miles on these bargains and depreciate them to the ground hehe
