I'm thinking...
£40k is stilly money. But if they only making...like...very few...they may sell at that price. I think a small number of people would pay that.
If they are making a few thousand..£40k is way too much.
Even £30k sounds like a lot. But £30k seems to be the 'hot hatch' going rate these days....
Really like the car though.

£40k. No thanks. More ludicrous price than a Civic Type R.
I'd rather spend £40k on a proper marque.
The new type r is not cheap but also not expensive. The original ep3 type r with air con and metallic paint was £17500 in 2001, put this into an inflation calculator and that's 27k in today's money. The ep3 was very raw for that price you got a CD player and that's about it. So a new basic non gt type r is £29k with reverse camera and a few other nice touches. So in fact it's not really that expensive after all.I'd rather spend £40k on a proper marque.
I think this clio will be awesome now it has the power to go with its good looks, liquid yellow for me please!
That is exactly how the new Clio RS should have looked from the start. In liquid yellow it is now a worthy continuation of the breed.
I agree with others on here though about the price, £40K is very close to M2 money, and you just know that the M2 is going to be a better drive, and maintain its value.
Renault should make the bodykit available for standard Clio RS's. It would go a long way in addressing the lack-lustre appearance, and make it at least look like you were driving a sporty car, even if it doesnt feel like one

Honda did the same with this, 20 avalaible and sold them all so im sure in small numbers they would shift them @ 40k!£40k is stilly money. But if they only making...like...very few...they may sell at that price. I think a small number of people would pay that.

This car sounds great but I do agree 40k [if that will be the price- nothing confirmed yet] is just too expensive.
If it was say 32k [a lot for a fwd. Clio] but same as stuff like optioned Civic Type R, Golf Club sport, Focus RS etc it would be more acceptable
Or if it was really bespoke [e.g. RWD or 4WD] then you could see why it could be 40k, but it’s not.
As others said, if they just stuck the body kit, wheels and seats on a Clio Trophy, have option to ditch rear seats and take some sound deadening out [maybe give is a token bhp increase] etc. to lighten it a few kg that would have been suffice for most. And sell it for say 26k [nicely undercutting all the high end hot hatch competition] it would be great.
Saying that, this car will be fantastic and no doubt go down any road or lap any track faster than all the competition.

Number of Fiesta ST's with some Mountune bits

Renault fecked up big time with 5 doors and a crap gearshift. Now trying to claw back some kudos.

Clio 2 172 ph1, released to a very lukewarm reception. Renault iterated and iterated and ended up with the Clio Trophy one of the finest hot hatches ever.
Clio 3, exactly the same process and outcome.
And the Megane 2.
And the Megane 3 except the initial car nailed it, they kept improving it though.
History suggests that the current gigantic Clio will end up as a very good drivers car.
