You're all laughing at £80k for a 3-Series knowing full well they'll sell every one of them.
Yes, indeed.BMW clearly know their market.
Its bemusing to think though that somewhere at some time there was a meeting in BMW and someone said "right lads, how much do you think we can get away with charging for these things?"

Agree. While we are all quite right that frankly, 80K is ridiculous, there are 500 people out there that have enough spare cash that they will buy it just to say they have one. What's depressing is that they've just done so little to differentiate it.

Not at all sadly, that's capitalism for you. With niche opportunities like this, they will always charge the maximum they can. As I said above, there are plenty of people who have 80K to spare. I'd be utterly indifferent to, in 10 years time, to be reading about a M3 40 jahre edition that costs an even larger percentage over the standard model with just as little as this to differentiate it. As the gap between rich and poor increases, the rich will have more and more to frivolously splash on a BMW 3 series (among other things). BMW clearly know their market.

I have nothing against bmw, they used to produce some great drivers cars after all. The modern ones are looking very good rep mobiles and I thought my diesel 5 series estate was great..... But 80k for something that looks like a junior sales execs 320d with bling wheels is beyond me.

Hasn't the M3 always been that way? Part of the appeal to many is that it looks similar to a normal 3 series. breadvan said:
Quick play on the configurator show a comparatively specced car at around £76,000 before discount.
It's not unheard of to add £15k worth of options to cars in this sector and if you're that type of buyer, this will probably be very appealing.
83k + 15k = 98k... not sure what your point is.It's not unheard of to add £15k worth of options to cars in this sector and if you're that type of buyer, this will probably be very appealing.

This car has a standard spec including at least 15k of kit that is optional on other M3s.
It's silly comparing the cost of this car to a base M3.
