really?
This car has a standard spec including at least 15k of kit that is optional on other M3s.
It's silly comparing the cost of this car to a base M3.
It does? Where does that say that exactly? It's a competition pack spec (£ 59,605.00) + some stick on bits with special paint. Where does the 15,000.00 come into play please? This car has a standard spec including at least 15k of kit that is optional on other M3s.

But you still look like a photocopier salesman in his "M" 320 diesel............. buy something more imaginative for that money surely?
Yep like an under powered, over weight, farty exhausted F type.... Whilst I have nothing at all against the Ftype, as an owner mocking the price of this M3 is.... A bit ironic, perhaps?

This special edition model features a high standard specification including harman/kardon surround-sound system with a total of 16 speakers. In addition to the exclusive content this car it also features as standard such equipment as Adaptive LED Headlights, BMW M Carbon Ceramic braking system, BMW M Head-up display, BMW M Double-Clutch Transmission, Comfort Access, Surround View, Comfort Access, Advanced Parking Pack, Extended Storage and a Speed Limit Display.
So while there may be a premium, it certainly ain't 23K. Sloppy journalism, PH. This should have been flagged in the original article.

That is a silly comment. The M3 looks infinitely more impressive than a M Sport 320d.
Having had a M3 and a 330i/330d you can't really escape the fact that the M3 will always be just a 3 series and that's not an especially exciting car in the first place in truth(practical family car), hence why many correctly mock the M3 in terms of price etc.

Close up you can see the detail changes on the M3...but out on the road though you have to know cars to really spot the difference for me, that's either a plus or minus depending on the point of view.

The stance of the cars are completely different - the M3 looks much squatter and wider than a normal 3 Series.Having had a M3 and a 330i/330d you can't really escape the fact that the M3 will always be just a 3 series and that's not an especially exciting car in the first place in truth(practical family car), hence why many correctly mock the M3 in terms of price etc.

Yes and they do look different if you park a 320d next to a M3 but out on the road they both look very similar to me and you have to be really looking to notice any real difference. cerb4.5lee said:

Ultimately its an upgraded 3 series - and purposely so, so that 320d M Sport owners can share the affiliation to the real drivers cars.
I personally dont think i'd want to spend £60K on an m3, bearing in mind you could buy some very good "bespoke" cars for that money.
