The Mercedes was strange. The screen is just awful and looks like a 30quid Chinese tablet stuck to the dash. Nothing about the car seemed to appeal at all, except for the seats. Don't care how fast it is, really did not like it.

Overall today I realised that most cars cost about £32000 before options, after which everything is over £40k. The Focus RS really appeals and a Mercedes does not.
As a former hard line MB enthusiast, about 15 different models since 1993 (S Class, SL AMG, M Class etc etc) it saddens me to say that whilst MB used to be very good at making cars, they are now only very good at making money. Only MB I have left is my G-Wagen. I've gone over to Lexus who still screw cars together well.

Can we ever stop calling a car interior 'a place to be'?
Why though?
Clichés are like corpses - the longer they're around, the less pleasant they are.

So what's the alternative?

Can't the problem myself.

Can't argue with that. Very useful on Twitter I should imagine.

How is a ".......a nice place to be." even a cliché?

Everyone knows what it means in the context it is said.

"cliché
ˈkliːʃeɪ/
noun
1. a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought."

How is it not?

Never really here it, and on the odd occasion I do it always seems appropriate, or it has never stuck out as being and overused phrase.

Ho hum.

I don't look at interiors I look out of the windscreen... seats and steering wheel are important and if the car is being used for passengers then this is also a plus. I have a huge like for two plus two executive cars, especially the rear for some wierd reason:

My friend had one, I always thought - ugly car, sorry, I never looked inside it. That is lovely.

It gets used pretty much every time a journalist wants to say something nice about a car's interior, so in the context of its use it is overused and (almost by definition) shows a lack of original journalism. "A pleasant place to plonk your arse" would, although not especially eloquent, at least probably be original in the context of car reviews.

Then again, that's probably not even original.

My 5 series is a nice place to be, has a great soundtrack and is a good steer.

Is the 5-series GT interior architecture based on the 5- or 7-series? Or a combination of the two?

It is a 7 series Hatchback.
