Serious question - when you're in one do you not feel the VW switchgear an annoyance?
Not that I've been in the position to buy one, but it would put me off. The gear selector / surround is the worst. Straight from a boggo A6.

I've always liked Volvo interiors, that bit more interesting
Perhaps, if 'interesting' includes 'not useful to driving or general use and may fall apart' based on my V70 experience.

Subaru may not look the biz, but the Gen 4 Liberty was/is well-screwed together and was the equal of its contemporaries 10-12 years ago. Ergonomically its spot-on, IME, and I'll bet everything still works now...

Nice! The F10 cabin is far better than the F30. Add Pro Nav and that will be perfection!

The Infiniti Q50 has a nice interior (Not so much the rest of the range...)

Shoutout to Maserati though with the Ghibli, both nice and little bit gopping at the same time.

Not sure if it is "mainstream" as such, but I rather like the interiors of many TVRs...

Indeed. Tuscan in particular.

I also love the simplicity and some of the details in the S1 and S2 Elise.

Most mainstream stuff looks a bit Aiwa stereo to me.

Is it just me or are those gear surrounds actually totally different? The A6 one has flat ends and horizontal edges to the manual shift area, whereas the other one has curved ends and what appear to be slightly hooked ends on the manual shift gate. Also the buttons are smaller on the Bentley. Similar layout, but they look like a totally different part.

Looks fabulous but I can't imagine sitting in the back would be much fun.

It's not just you.

There may be examples of VW group switchgear in the Bentley but that isn't one of them..

Could it be just someone trotting out a tired cliche?

Not a tired cliche at all, it's 100% accurate. My Passat is basically a Bentley.

I'm surprised how many squeaks and rattles there are in a Bentley and how cheap and scratchy the plastics are, but there you go.

Oh? Those buttons on the centre console look very VW / Audi to me...

But is it a cliche or is it accurate in terms of shared interior components?

Yep, totally different. I am a bit confused that some people would obsess about a gear surround, what exactly can you do with one to make it any different? Perhaps they should have carved it out of ivory?

Only a car nerd would spot that really, but if TVR could get their later interior bits hand made, I would expect the same from a maker who like to promote the bespoke nature of their stuff.

Yes, very, very impressed with the XC90 interior - lovely place to sit in.

Shame I can't be as complementary about the rest of it though.

Look completely different to me, and nothing like the current A6 gear surround, the few times I have been in a Bentley it never felt the least bit VW.

Agree on both counts, the interior is rather lovely particularly in the lighter colours. Imagine how nice the car would have been with the turbocharged I6 putting out about 340 - 350bhp, or even the NASP I6. Great car ruined by the powertrain.
