It might not be the car wash's fault. Was it a sunny day when you took the pictures and noticed the dents? Could it be the same as this thread on an A1 forum?
Could it be the water from the car wash (hot on a cold day or cold on a hot day) causing the 'dents' to suddenly form/unform hence the thump noise the op also heard?.

Thank you for the advice all.

It really is decidedly odd. I checked back and I actually used the car wash about one month after collecting the car brand new.

During this time I locally hand - washed birdlime off the car 8 or 9 times, including off the roof. There was definitely no sign of dents then, before I used the car wash.

The dents do seem to come and go...I initially spotted just the one offset to the right. It wasn't until I shot the pics outside my house that the second one became apparent.

The pic with the reflected street lamp was taken on a cool, partly cloudy evening. Those outside the home (reflections of trees) were shot on a bright day but it wasn't especially warm.

I'm still awaiting responses from the PDR man and Morrison's insurance company.
Have you read the link above which is almost definitely the cause of the problem?

The plot thickens.
Seems to be a hidden feature on the car.
What's your roof 'doing' now OP?

It's warm with a cool breeze. The r.h. ding's gone shallower and the other's disappeared.

Perhaps I have a CGI roof. Peculiar.

Go down tonight and stage a protect. Put your trousers down and tell everyone that morrisons have well and truly pulled your pants down. Tell them that you never wore a belt and this was the consequence.

The plit has thockened big style. There are lots of posts on the Audi A1 forum descrbing exactly the same thing! Some of the forum posters have taken their cars back to the dealership and one has had the headlining removed and a new glue/assembly procedure carried out.

All these posters are describing the correlation between the dents' appearing/disappearing and ambient conditions.

Meanwhile, Morrison's insurance team have stuck firmly to their guns. I'm smart enough to know when I'm wrong and may even admit it!

Incidentally, I spoke to the dealership where I got my car and pointed my contact there towards this thread. Might be interesting.
