If you wanted a fast estate with 300+bhp for 12-15k you're limited in you choices.

All of those in your link are indeed around the same price as the VXR in the advert. But they are 3-4 years older.
If you want a fast estate for £15k BUT you have company car allowance rules of a 5-7 year limit, all of the others are ruled out. Now the similarly priced VXR has a place in the market...

As others have said, that seems like crazily strong residuals for a car you could buy for less than £25k new?
Glad I'm not the only one wondering why people are on about naff residuals! After a quick look on Auto Trader, there's a 2011 335i with 42k on the clock for £15,495. - That will have lost more value in both Pounds and as a percentage of it's real world purchase price than this Vauxhall.ZX10R NIN said:

I'm interested by a comment in a previous post, I assume the issues are related to the Haldex 4wd system as opposed to audi using the their own quattro system? What are the temperamental issues? Is it related to the lack of specified oil change service for Saab and Vaux and possibly volvo where as when VAG group use the identical haldex in golfs etc they specify a oil change every 20k miles?
"Ok, theoretically im looking for a new (but used) family barge that may need to traverse icy roads on the edge of The Peak District in winter...
Estate? Check
Strong performance? Check
4wd? Er.... For me that culls the Volvo V70 and Insiignifica VXR by virtue of issues with their 4wd systems
Which tends to point me towards an Audi, S4 or S6, which although they will cost more at the point of purchase, will see that gap closed by the rabid depreciation of the Insignifica, and the repair bills for both that and the Ovlov.
Shame really, as I've had a a number of V70 T5's, and a V70R awd and loved them, but the gearbox and awd system are temperamental.
I guess a VXR of the Insignifica / it's replacement will go the way of big saloons that were so prominent into the 90's as built by Ford and Vauxhall - they ceded that ground to the premium German brands and show no sign of having the will, or the products, to regain it. Seems like the Germans also have a stranglehold on the premium performance estates too...."

IF it were my money looking for a fast, low (ish) mileage estate, I think I'd rather this and pocket a grand.
This may be down a 100BHP, but as others have said the VXR feels slow AND you would have a grand spare for a remap if this didn't feel up to scratch.

Older, Mileage and auto. Looked at one of these a few years ago and just could not justify the price of an Audi. Despite my wife loving her A1 I look at them and think the prices are overly inflated and the image round here starts diving Bruv...
