Do you think he'll still have the time/inclination to put out any YouTube vids?

Hope so as he doesn't appear to get a lot of airtime on TG thus far (well none) and EG isn't long enough!

Wasn't that a Michael Palin travel series from a while back?

Haven't watched the online Top Gear show - barely made it to the end of the BBC2 offering. But then, I've never managed to watch a Harris YouTube video in its entirety either, so no change there.

As an aside, is a solely online show really the pinnacle of television journalism as some are claiming?

It has a TV slot here in Ireland (Monday night's at 8:30pm), where we can't get the online version. A small market admittedly, but I wonder if others may follow

His Dad used to work at the BBC so he's probably got the right connections,

Any reason why people aren't allowed to post praise about something/someone they enjoy (even if your opinion differs?)

I Just watched Top Gear Extra, and thought it was as bad as the original show......won't be watching again in a hurry.....I've never understood the fanboism for Harris - he's OK, but nothing special IMO, although he is better than Evans (but that's not hard as long as you don't shout and try and dress like a teenager!)

Good to see him on TV. However, he was a bit of a spare part in Extra Gear and I don't want to watch him being forced to talk about blacked out diesel X5's (he clearly wasn't a fan of that either). Really, they should sack off whoever that presenter is and just have Harris on Extra Gear. Would probably be a better watch.

I like his youtube stuff and have always thought he would be a good fit for TG.

My gf, who is not interested in cars in the slightest, watched extra gear and declared him "weird". He was peering down his nose at Rory like a Roman emperor surveying his lands with his head tilted almost all the way back. Maybe that was it.

Unfortunately not, when he was confirmed to be on TG he advised that there would be no further CHoC videos and even closed the Patreon account.
He advised there were 4 more videos to be released but they never came out in the end.

I'd really like to know where Neil Carey has gone in all of this. Anyone familiar with his youtube content knows that Neil is equally as much of the youtube content as Chris is. I'd like to think he's used his experience as a big stepping stone in to another adventure that's treating him well, I can't imagine him joining the Top gear BBC crew.

He needs to front the main show with Matt LeBlanc.

Chris, Harris being the only one worth mentioning on the show, really knows, loves and articulates his subject beautifully without having a presenting style that's a clone of either Clarkson, Hammond or May.

Matt LeBlanc looks like he has great potential if steered properly in the right direction. Evans doesn't possess the imagination or ability to do this but Harris does.

Well, this is a massive relief, and I'm glad to see that things have turned out well for him.

The last I heard was that he was shot at some zoo for protecting a child from a couple of numpties.

Agree. I did not really see the point of Rory. CH could carry the show on his own IMO.

He was good but would be better if directed by the same people who did his youtube vid. Just felt he was not given the time/space he needed.

So if he directed himself then? I'd be up for that!

None that I can think of. I like the guy both on screen and in person. But PH does attract a lot of negativity and systematic criticism. I guess it makes some people feel better about themselves.

I felt he was being quite restrained by the bbc. You could see the anguish when trying to co interview that bloke with the chavvy X5. I don't think the pair are a good fit as two presenters, Rory Reid just spoke like he's the trendy gadget show type children's to cool one who actually know naff all about cars. I imagine CH is trying to adapt his style to fit TG, but in reality he needs to open himself up again like he is on his videos and be himself. that's CH does well interviewing proper car nerds or chief engineers of car projects from manufacturers, drivers etc, he really gels with them. not some comedian from Essex!

His 3way shootout of the P1, laFerrari and Porsche is probably the best video out there!

Let's be honest, it is far more pleasant to read positive posts than the myriad spiteful and unpleasant negative tripe that is churned out hourly by the depressingly angry masses of modern PH. smile
