I've always enjoyed Chris Harris' internet content and his writing.
However I don't think he's a great match-up for TG. After all - his journalism speaks to people who are enthusiasts so he can talk knowledgably about the technical aspects that his usual audience will understand and appreciate. That audience isn't TG whether it's on BBC2 or BBC3 on the internet.

He'll end up having to dumb everything down to the lowest common denominator - for which you could get any muppet who can talk to camera.

I like his stuff...its about the experience of the car, and he does a good job of conveying it.
I had a few beers with him at the Nûrburgring in 2010 in the Pistenklause, and he was a basic, decent bloke and just a proper car guy.

I like Chris' car tests and reviews and he can drive but, I'm sorry, he is a terrible frontman and Rory Reid was the only real presenter on that show (apart from his propensity to say "solid" repeatedly and annoyingly.

Rory was epicly st.
Costantly trying to put himself on somesort of moral high horse over chris.
I cannot stand him and would happily see him axed from the show. Everything about him grates on me.

He doesn't come accross as a car enthusiast, or very knoledgeable or able to pedal a car, or able to speak in comeplete sentences without either using slang and or sounding like a 6yr old reading aloud.

He comes across as only caring about shiny things and how they make you appear to other braindead magpies.

I cabt see why liam doran wasnt being interviewed instead of the nobody with a diesel crapmobile.

Ill be happy for the main topgear to be digestible for tthe masses, and for extra gear to be something enthusiasts can get their teeth into without going too far and sounding like a local council meeting droning on....

Which is probably why Matt LeBlanc did the Nomad bit on the main show....

rory only appeals to the type of people that like that song 'german whip'

I like CH. I like his knowledge and experience. I actually think it could be a good balance with Rory, yes it is a bit amateur but I don't think the set and the acoustics help. Well done.

Really! moving a thread when it's already gone to 4 pages? This post was about Chris rather than any particular TV programme, as I said, I didn't want it to become another TG thread but you, the mod, have made it so!

It actually all sounds a bit creepy really. Does your wife know you are in love with some bloke on the telly?

I thought CH was a bit crap. He has found himself as a bit part player and quite honestly is a poor match for TG.

I think they have far too many presenters and should axe a few, including CH. It is an entertainment show and he is out of place IMO.

Absolutely OP.

CH's material is always top quality and I enjoy everything he puts out.
When he has free rein. Which he does not have, and never will have on TG.

I was at the recording of episode 3 on Thursday and most of you will be pleased to hear that Harris has a good chunk of the main show of him reviewing the 250 TDF and F12 TDF.

I thought it was a great piece of film and almost as good as his YouTube reviews. And he's also on the Extra Gear show again, driving an AMG GT.

Me too, nothing against the guy but he wasn't good. Doubt I'll watch Extra again.

Looks like the suggestion of a Rimfest may have been spot on!

He seemed alright, show felt a little awkward though and evans couldn't keep his stupid mug off it either which didn't help.

Thing with the him and leblanc positivity is the bars pretty low now, a pint of carling will taste like nectar if you're in a famine.
