Hardly, its just disappointing to see posts like this on a car enthusiasts forum.
Are you still saying it is not the reaction you get as an owner ?.....that does not influence people in their choice and that there is no other choice for an enthusiast driver ?The only downside is the fact so many people want to race it on the road (which I never do).
A true car enthusiast puts the car first and will happily ignore small minded people IMHO.

You also significant increase your chance of death/serious injury.
Yeah, it's not for Softie Walter types.Presumably the many motorbike racers who don't ride on the road are softie walter types too?
It's down to an individual risk acceptance. I'd solo climb (ie sans ropes) a route on a rock face, yet I feel that riding a motorbike on the road isn't worth the risk - for me.
Guess I'm a softy walt then.

I suspect they'll have contracts forbidding them. When someone has money invested in you being able to compete, it might be reasonable to assume they'd take steps to minimise your risk of putting yourself out of competition. I'm sure Didier Auriol received a stern talking to from Ford's rally boss when his mate crashed that F40 and broke his ankles, for example.

Also, I see you removed the part of my post where I talk about individual risk acceptance and making the point that I'd solo climb but not ride a bike on the road.
Did that not suit your narrative?

Cheesus mice.
Man starts thread about cheap, fun car.
Man gets some suggestions (some useful, some not).
Man purchases car and updates thread.
Man continues to receive suggestions; funnily enough, man hasn't responded.
Deliquents hijack thread and enter into several completely unrelated, petty arguments.
Grow up.

No I do not think so (I hope not), but I have seen others react as per stereotype and seen that effect other peoples choices. I have never considered such a car (Sub Impr) but I cannot honestly say that it would not have some influence in my choice if ever I was to make it.
Is it the ONLY choice ?, well no it is not. As such there is a choice and all the influences that allows.
