C&SC 'Century of Supercars' poll closing soon

Bored on the Bank Holiday? Now's the last chance to vote for your favourite supercars!

While we may be basking in some long overdue summer sunshine, it really is time to be thinking about the autumn and, specifically, the Classic & Sports Car show.

You may remember back in June the reader poll for this year's event was launched, aiming to find the publilc's favourite from a century of supercars. Plenty of votes have been cast already but, with the poll only open until the end of August, now's your final opportunity to enter! There are more details below on the cars you can vote for and the show itself, so don't miss the chance. There are a few tough decisions to make...

ORIGINAL STORY 10/06/2016:
Following last year's hot hatch draw, the 2016 show celebrates a century of supercars. The expert panel of C&SC judges have picked three supercars from each era (pre-1914, 1914-1929 and then the decades) that they believe best represent the genre. There are the usual suspects in the list - Mercedes Gullwing, Lamborghini Miura, Ferrari F40, McLaren F1 - but also some you may not have considered as well, like the De Tomaso Mangusta, Koenigsegg CCX and Porsche 911 Turbo. As always there will be cars missing that many feel should be included - where's the Diablo? Where's the Carrera GT? Where's the Cizeta V16T? We're only slightly joking on the last one, but we'll leave the more detailed discussion to you...

To vote in the poll, see the new Classic & Sports Car show website. Once the initial winners from each era are settled on, there will be another vote during September to find the public's greatest supercar. All the finalists will be exhibited at Alexandra Palace at the end of October, where the winner will be announced.

See the below table for a few of the contenders, then click here for the full list, voting and buying tickets. We'll bring you news of the finalists as they're announced!

Has to be the F40. Yes some are faster, better equipped etc, but the last car from Enzo and something so so special. It's the one I'd have, and the one that would make me happiest every day

Countach. It still has the wow-factor.

The Miura is just too beautifull to be a supercar.

Indeed, still numero uno for me as its the original 'Supercar', the phrase didn't exist prior to the Muira (and logically all the cars on that list prior to the Muira, are by definition, not 'Supercars'...?

I'm no expert but the pic of the Ferrari 166 Barchetta,it's a hardtop.

Definition of a Barchetta is an open car.

Don't ask me how I know....confused

Some odd choices there. Mostly road cars, but one or two race cars also (GT40 and the incorrectly photographed Ferrari 166 Barchetta). Should be strictly road cars really. But using their system I would go for the Mercedes-Benz 300SLR Uhlenhaut coupe, which was a bit of both, but not on their list.

Miura is my favourite, the only one I lust after. 911 deserves a big merit badge though.

Agreed completely with Dave hedgehog (sorry didn't cut the quote). 288 gto for ever and you are spot on, it wasn't fashionable due to the f40 but I think the 288gto is the one!!!!

The whole 'just let us know' tactic is awful though. Having to locate a form (thanks btw smile) to opt out isn't The Done Thing, just stick the checkboxes on the bloody form like everybody else. I'm sure this breaches some online marketing code of practice.

Besides, how do I know that by doing a blanket opt out of (all?) Haymarket marketing via an unrelated form that I will still get any PH stuff that I have previously agreed to and am happy to keep receiving?

A hot mess.

Oh, and F1 and anyone who says different is a big poo-poo pants jester

I'm guessing someone doesn't know their Berlinettas from their Barchettas ....

p.s. Barchetta actually means "small boat" which is a nice way of describing such a car smile
