I was born in the 60s, but I'd still pick the F40 out of all of the candidates smile

I still remember the spine tingling moment one passed me, about 5MPH faster than me, on the way back from Le Mans - It wasn't the exhaust you could hear, or the turbos, it was the mechanical parts of the engine.

Awesome car, there are faster (lots), prettier (Muira), better built (probably lots) and more valuable supercars (You could get a decent F40 for a 'mere' £150,000 not so long ago - I should have remortgaged the house!), but nothing makes me feel like a 12 year old again just by seeing a photo except the F40 (And I'm no Ferrari fanboi either, the 288GTO, Enzo and F50 do nothing for me)!

For the 90s I went for the EB110. It's nearly as much a favourite for me as the F40 and I'd take a Pagani of any sort if someone was offering! biggrin

I have covered quite a few miles in the 288 GTO, F40 and F50. The GTO is the most beautiful and scary, the F50 is probably the best car to drive, and the F40 provides one of the most raw driving experiences imaginable. I would still however take an F1 because it was such a quantum leap in what a supercar could be.

Has to be the F1
The most innovative driver position since the Khama Sutra
Faster, better, smaller and yet more spacious than virtually any other super car before or since.
Better in many ways than the car that eventually replaced it.
Innovative and a fanatical attention to detail but with nothing done for show or ego.
The initial, idea brought three hugely talented people together, Roche, Murray and Stevens.

Trashed all comers at Le Mans in road trim.

Can carry more adults than any other supercar with enough luggage space for a trip to Le Mans.

240+mph from a normally aspirated and reliable engine with a sound, difficult to beat. According to Andretti this was not even the absolute limit either. It took 8.0L and 4 turbos to best it.

Understated but stunning beautiful.
