Think im going to pick up some extra car prep supplies to bring down, anyone have any reccomendations on what to get & bring?

First time having a car officially involved in any sort of display so I have no idea what to expect.
I'll mainly be bringing a bottle of quick detailer and a few cloths, just to top up some shine and make the car as nice looking at it gets.

Beforehand, and because it needs it, I'm giving the car a proper once over, wash, polish and wax, but depending on the car and how it is used and what you want to do determines how you present it. So mine will be shiny, but with the road rash that a daily driven, soft painted, do everything car gets.

Scroll down this page and you'll see the majority of cars that were chosen. It's pretty diverse and should be quite a stand. Unsure why this thread was closed though really?

No problems at all chap! Happy to help.

Looking forward to having a good old like around your 309, I've just been reading a mauve thread over on detailing world and have a bit of a thing for them at the sec!
You'll be more than welcome to have a good poke around it. I've got to give the lads at Ecosse a call today as it should be re-painted now. It's just had a new rear nearside sill, inner panel and wheel arch section after I had a poke with a screw driver a few weeks back. Not really what I expected to be honest!

I can't wait to get it back on the road.

Wasn't that the old list? I thought this was a new appeal as folk had dropped out. Would love to know the completed line up.

Quite a privilege to be selected I'd say so congrats to the lucky owners.

I'd tend to agree tartan, I was contacted by Ollie after the last thread, but a good while before this one, so I'd say all bets were off!

For the record, mine is the black Forester STI near the top of the page.

Is anyone camping?
I'm in two minds currently - I have found my (heavily dust coated) tent, and a can of fabisil and am prepared for that eventuality, however a hotel is still very much on my radar!

Pros: No need to drive offsite, a lot cheaper, and cheaper means more beer tokens, and a decent bottle of single malt around a campsite is always a good thing.

Cons: It's tenting, I have a fairly unpleasant shoulder injury and I'm not sure an airbed will quite cut it for a good nights sleep, a hotel sometimes has a good selection of single malts, it's tenting!

I'll stick a tent in the car, and play by ear depending on weather I think.
If you have the forester you've got to camp, Subarus together. No one seems to have mentioned camping, and since the original thread has disappeared I'm now starting to believe I imagined the "camping included" part.

Haha no worries. I too recall the "camping included" and have a vague recollection of "showered with merch" (though my autocorrect was trying to insist that showered with meth was a better sentence....) the latter of course being a bonus, the former being far more useful!

I'll stick a bottle or two in the boot as well!

Edit to add:

Calling all members of the community!!

PistonHeads will be attending the Fast Car Festival at Donington Park Racing Circuit on July 30th - 31st and we have been asked if a few of our members would like to exhibit their cars at the event.

Therefore, to help support our attendance and to showcase the best of what PistonHeads has to offer, we are looking for a total of 20 member's cars to be included in a static display over the course of the weekend.
They will sit alongside other displays from the show, spanning the entire motoring spectrum, from supercars, to classics, to Japanese drifters.

We have decided to create to showcase our members unconditional love for their cars and named it "PH Metal".
So if you have a Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche or any other marque that you feel is worthy of a place on our stand, and that you would like to bring for the weekend, then please upload a photo onto this forum.

The winners will not only receive a free pass for two to the show, a pitch for overnight camping and some PH Merchandise, but also the pride of seeing their car flying the flag for PH!

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be selecting our favourites from all of the entrants and will be contacting the winners soon after.

Good luck!

I don't think anyone had dropped out. It was Ollie leaving and JJ taking over the reigns I think? Maybe the final list could be posted here?

I too recall the promise of camping passes and PH goodies.

I'd like to camp, but a mate of mine lives nearby and has offered much beer in return for me staying at his place.

I've just spoken to the garage, they have promised me my car will be ready to collect Friday morning...

So 2.5 hour train ride down to the car, pick it up and head directly down to Donington hoping the paint is dry by then!

Sounds like I'd best pack some Alka Seltzer as well! I've promised to pop over to the goon squad for a beer at some point too.

Cheers for the tips, mines a daily driver so it'll definitely be reflecting that with the stone chips etc, I'll grab some detailer before I head down, got Friday off to give her a good wash, wax and polish, weather permitting...
