Insane idea, I'm in LA at the moment and just about every car sounds great, who the hell would want a diesel supercar it's a total none starter.
top end audi diesels do sound very good thou, they have speakers in the exhausts to make them sound good
And their next-gen electric cars can also sound good using speaker technology, but without all the toxic soot spewing out the exhaust.
My understanding is that the system amplifies and edits the real sound to make it sound better in the cabin. Might sound more fake in an electric car, although I'm sure it would still be fine.

Love the system in our diesel TT but it's nowhere near loud enough!

i am sure thats what the marketing boys want everyone to believe

its a separate "speaker" in the same vain that the golf gti / r has under the bonnet that is bolted next to the exhaust and the sound is merged with the engine sound at the exhaust tip

No no no a thousand times no.

I own a diesel. A 260bhp 3.0D

DIESELS ARE NOT SPORTY.

No one wants a supercar with a powerband of 500 rpm
NO ONE

What's the point in the BMW i8 in that case?
A showcase of interesting, forward thinking technology. Perhaps the complete opposite of something fueled on diesel.
