Great car no doubt but at £22k plus this or a Megane Cup-S?
yes

Couldn't agree more. The ST is a fantastic motor at £17k but not at £22k.

But, alas, people will buy it because it's 'a limited edition.............'

Is it just me or is 22k enough to buy a really nice car? Like a BMW e9 or a 968 club sport that'll not only hold its value, but are not as ugly as sin! That is one horrible looking car! Not for me that.
Yeah, i do wonder how catastrophically bad the Fiesta must be to end up with the same running costs as those two examples though. The 968CS might hold its value better, but i doubt youll end up saving any money

I don’t usually comment, but I had to laugh. I think the dog analogy may have been taken too far. Just what is a “terrier-like handling balance?” Compared to what, a Labrador. Perhaps we need a ‘what dog best represents my car’ thread.

My old boss likened my Z3M Coupe to a bulldog with worms.

So a fiesta with more power than a sierra cosworth, and slightly lighter too.. and a lot more drivable.

How times change!

Hmmm, this does look expensive, especially as a quick scan of Carsales (Aus version of Autotrader) tells me I can have a 2016 brand new ST for $27k, that's about £13.5k! Is the price differential really that different (taxes etc for UK) or do we have a watered down version over here? It still has the 1.6 turbo etc.

Also, as a point of interest, does anyone know if I could get the Mountune gubbins stuck on an ST down here in Sydney, if so, looks like it could be an interesting punt, if I could live with that slightly tacky looking stereo section of the dash that is.

Just paid £16,300 for an ST-3 with parking sensors and style pack, could possibly have got it under £16k going through Drive The Deal I think. ST-1 with no options is probably similar to that, didn't get any quotes on those though.

I've got a 15 plate ST2 and I love it. Booked it in for the Mountune upgrade now as I fancy a little more punch.
If the suspension has indeed been softened on the newer cars without compromising the handling, then they've sorted the only annoying part about the car for me. And it's not really that the suspesion is so bad, it's the state of the Scottish tarmac if I'm being honest.
They need to bring out the 5 door version with the extra power and in my opinion they would have a sure fire winner on their hands. I have 2 young children, and the 2 door does get annoying at times.
As for the paint. Really messed that up haven't they. Different wheels would have been a better shout maybe?

Tbh I do think this car isn't really aimed at the UK market, as mentioned in the article, the Mountune kit isn't Ford approved fit in every country so this would make sense for those markets.

That said, no, the grey isn't brilliant and a LSD would have been the perfect upgrade for it (the 208 GTI now has one).

I don't think I'd be too keen on it here anyway, a 16 plate ST3 with the mountune kit is essentially the same motor, in a colour that you can actually choose.

My 15 plate ST3 feels fine with the kit added, I don't really care about the ride quality either (I don't think it's bad at all). Though I had been daily driving an 89 Passat on wound down coilovers previously, so take that with a pinch of salt...

Though, I fully expect it's never going to match up to the mighty POLO GIT (sic)

It's a car that never made sense to me, until I read the article and saw the comments about it being targeted at markets where you can't get the tuning kit. It's not really for us, I imagine they're only selling it here because there are enough people who want the "ultimate" ST to make it worthwhile.

Probably the most interesting news is that the new suspension setup has made it into every factory ST.

I agree. A five door would suit us perfectly as a second car.

Was that your local dealer? I'm contemplating keeping my lease car, but at two years old and 12000 miles they asked£13.5K. Might as well buy a new one if I fancy sticking with it.

Seeing as the standard ST now has the same suspension setup, they are charging £3k for a remap and a different colour. Bargain!! rofl

Especially as the USA version is ONLY available as a 5 door...it can't be that hard!

I bought a used Sierra RS Cosworth in 1990, My Mrs bought a brand new ST2 a year ago for around £15k. The Cossie felt quicker at the top end but I reckon that the ST would leave it behind on a twisty B road.

Not seen the inside of a Fiesta before eh? Been living under a rock?

On a different note, looks like I'll be fighting everyone and their dog to have a 16 plate ST3 with Mountune kit... wink
