I do this often. Position myself some 100m or so behind a Lorryist, flip the cruise on then relax and just watch all the bumper to bumper carnage, stupidity and aggression occurring in lanes 2 and 3 whilst enjoying some nice music. It's all good - sometimes even like having your own private motorway all to yourself. biggrin
Carnage mostly caused by you.
How is it causing carnage to sit in L1 going at the same speed as everyone else in L1? Would you rather someone doing 10mph more going in and out of L2? Or staying in L2?

It's not difficult;
if you are on a busy motorway in L1 keeping up with trucks; no problem.
If you are on a relatively empty motorway in L1 and are being overtaken by trucks; no problem.
If you are on a busy motorway in L1 and being overtaken by trucks you are being a nuisance to say the very least.

Well apparently it's difficult enough that you can't reconcile it.
You describe this scenario as "no problem", but Riktoid describes as "causing carnage".
Clearly there's a difference of opinion in there somewhere..

its just my opinion. It may well not reconcile with any other poster.

It doesn't. Just someone here being a bit of a drama queen.

Nothing boils my piss more than someone doing 50-55 in the inside lane at the junction you're coming off and then they carry on past the turn off.
WTF would that boil your piss? How does it possibly affect you if you are leaving the motorway?

It's 70 on a motorway, do 70 you fking tts.
That include HGV drivers as well, they all tts? rolleyes
It boils my piss because motorways were invented for the convenience of getting somewhere more quickly than a standard road and if you're not willing to do motorway speeds then why the fk are you on there to begin with?

It always seems to me that the ones who are doing significantly slower speeds are st scared of being on a motorway to begin with and shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car anyway.

It affects me leaving the motorway because I'm using the motorway to get somewhere quicker than an average road otherwise I wouldn't be on there either.

Not to mention motorways are boring as fk and rife with horrible, horrible driving (for slow people, too fast people, middle lane hoggers, tailgaiters, etc) so why on earth would you possibly spend more time on there than you could?

Oh and having worked in distribution coming face to face with HGV drivers, quite a lot of them are tts yes.

If I was you, i would get a chauffeur, have a kip in the back and avoid the impending heart attack you appear to be facing wink

Fair enough. The way you phrased it, I thought you were disagreeing with me.

If you cover a long stretch of journey on a motorway doing 50, you are getting somewhere more quickly than a standard road. So no problem, according to your own argument.

What 'standard road'?

They were invented to give lots of poeple the convenience of getting somewhere more quickly than a standard road. They do this by being both faster and bigger. Going at 55 on a motorway is still a lot quicker than going okn a standard road - and the thing which normally slows me down on a motorway isnt the people behaving at 55 in L1, its either that the road isn't big enough for all the traffic, or people are messing about in L2 and L3.

It seems to me that you've decided that without any basis just to make yourself feel superior.

If it boils your piss to slow down by 15 mph over the last 400 yards of your motorway journey, you are the one who shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car.

Maybe because if you travel at 55mph in L1, the horrible horrible driving you refer to is less stressful?

I think part of the problem is that there is an expectation that cars will be doing a certain speed, when drivers go too far either side, you get problems, you get Mr 520D late for a meeting doing 95 and Doris doing 45 there is a 50 mph speed differential, crashes occur,
And the one at fault is Doris doing the speed she wishes not the 520D doing 25mph over the limit????
Did I single out Doris as being at fault, the point was cars are more likely to collide when there is a big speed differential than a small one or if they are going at the same speed, if we all try to not be too far above or below the speed limit, that may mean less crashes.

Bmw man will be expecting most drivers to be doing between 60 and 80 and Happening upon a car doing 45 might mean he catches it up very quickly.

I have discovered a new game! Just pull in front of these types of people, then gently keep on slowing to see how low speed wise they will go before they overtake. You shouldn't get any complaints no matter how many times you do this or how slowly you go laugh

Interesting.

You're clearly godlike behind the wheel. Would you like to demonstrate it?

I'd quite like to see what a superior driver is like in comparison to my skill level.

Do you fancy meeting up for a small karting challenge?

Do superior karting skills = superior road craft???!

Look on the plus side, at least he won't be contributing to the numerous HGV blind spot accidents which happen daily as a result of overtakes.

Notice how the HGV's never hit other HGV's?

I doubt it, but that wasn't what F1GTRUeno was saying. I've included his quote above.

Correct
But that is what I believe CraigMc is implying!

OR he would like him to demonstrate his superior skills then have a karting challenge!

I once did over 200 miles on a Sunday night at 50mph on the M1...the reason, a puncture meaning I had to put the skinny spare on. It's not uncommon...& if it's on the near side no one else can see it.....

You're right, it's not 'uncommon', but I wouldn't say it is 'common' for the people driving that slow to all be driving on space savers!
