It would be great that once we are officially out from the ghastly chains of the EU, VW, BMW, Mercedes and so on start developing N/A V6, V8 engines again specifically for the UK market, even in limited numbers I'm sure there would be enough of an interests.

Cars like the mk4, mk5 golf r32 is what I love and it would be great if similar hot hatches and saloons in a modern form with more power and more fuel efficient could be built!

No manufacturer is going to make UK specials. It wouldn't be cost efficient for a start.

Just because we aren't in the EU any more it doesn't mean that emissions laws would be relaxed to allow such cars, they could actually become more strict.

Large N/A engines have had their time.

You shouldn't get too excited, you never know, the UK might set stricter emissions standards.

Or indeed up the taxation on fuel or CO2 emissions to make up for the loss of trade elsewhere.

Or tax the fk out of cars not made in the UK as protectionism

They may have larger engines than us, but like us, their engines are getting smaller and more powerful

You won, but clearly as shown by your 1st post you didn't understand the EU and the UK's role within in. Which us why UK emission laws will not be changed. Had you not noticed that the UK were one of the loudest pro environmental voices within the EU.

How much do you think it costs to develop an engine and how many units would they sell in the UK? I am sure they could make you what every wanted if you have enough money, but no manufacturer is going to build an engine specifically for the UK even if we did abandon all of the emission regulations.

Will never happen but would have been nice to see VW producing a VR6 again as its quite a unique engine. When you can get 300hp from a 2.0T and dont have any requirements for a high output engine like some kind of turbocharged VR6, it would be pointless development.

yes It was our (Hillary Benn's actually) proposals that led to low energy light bulbs. Loved by everyone obviously. cloud9

And you tell me we have no EU influence.

Considering that the leave vote was most pronounced in tradional Labour areas, you should be thanking the 'left wing lefties' for granting you the chance to live in your post-EU utopia.

Also, the people want economical, efficient cars that cost buttons to run. The days of big V8s and the like here or in the EU are numbered.

No no no - It is all true! I heard on;y today that Audi were commissioning a batch of highly modified S3's, just for the UK Market! (Black only)

If anyone in Japan s listening:

  • Yamaha - RD350LC
  • Kawasaky 750H2 (The real one)
  • Suzuki - RG500
(All at original price mind)

etc, etc...

Nurse - Pass me pills.

Why would German car manufacturers produce special engines for the UK? Right now they fking hate Britain and that's without mentioning the contempt they have for Sterling.
