Hello

I recently imported a Lamborghini LM002 and need to submit it for an MOT

I am having problems trying to confirm if this should be tested as class 4 or class 7

The GVW is between 3000 and 3500kgs

Class 7 seems to be defined as for Good vehicles which the LM002 isn't but then I have also read that class 4 is for passenger vehicles up to 3000 kgs which this isn't either

I know some Land Rovers had this issue but they were defined under dual purpose vehicles which I don't believe the LM002 is - I see it more as comparable to a Range Rover which I believe are all Class 4

Please help!

thanks

Craig

This is the worst "I've got an LM002" post ever.

Can't help with your problem however.

Wasn't familiar with the model, amused to see it referred to as the 'Rambo Lambo'.
Sorry OP, can't help.

Everything I've read suggests the LM002 weight is just under 2700 kgs / 5600lbs ?

this suggests lower weight + therefore avoidance of light goods class of LM002 as an advantage over Hummer...

Pics, please!

weight with all fluids is just over 3000 kgs and GVW is 3485 kgs

the more I read the more confusing it becomes

as far as I can see because it is not a goods vehicle it should be class 4 regardless of weight

Whatever you have read is wrong. The 3000kg limit is for goods vehicles to be in class 4. As yours is a passenger vehicle it is class 4.

Make sure the testing station can fit it in! You're going to make some mechanic's day poling up in one of those!

Middle East import?

Always wanted to ask the owner of one of these a question but never had the opportunity before.

What is the mpg in real life?

thanks for the positive comments - it came in from Italy (luckily pre-Brexit!)

the annoying thing is the MOT people for the workshop it's in are saying its over 3000 kgs so must be class 7 - not helped by the fact it has an open "pick up" style body implying it could carry goods

it seems a very grey area :-(

Is there any other LM002's in the country? If so maybe the dvla could tell you what they are classed as? Never had that level of help from the DVLA mind you.

there are some but not sure DVLA would be able to divulge

I did call the DVSA who said because its designed to carry passengers and the outside area has seats it should be class 4 - not helpful though if the MOT place you take it to disagrees

Page 8 of the VOSA MoT Inspection manual April 2013 would suggest it is Class IV because it is a car - no maximum weight is mentioned. However many moons ago I had a job at an MoT centre and we used to test a lot of hippy buses which weren't goods vehicles because they were used privately - but were Class VII due to the weight.

Suggest you get it from the horse's mouth - VOSA: 0300 123 9000
