Congrats, great car. My mate had a Black one, although I never had a ride.
Would love to see one on the biggest mud tyres that'll fit.

345/60/17

I have sourced some 325/70/17 which other owners have used and look OK - sadly don't have the sand lip like the Scorpions though

Love it, only ever seen one at the auto and technik museum sinsheim.

Whats the tyre situation like, can you still get the Pirelli scorpions?

Edited by Coatesy351 on Wednesday 29th June 19:39
I knew I'd seen another recently but the phone was going flat at Sinsheim so didn't take a pic of that one.

Seeing 3 in 7 days is quite something.

great to see all the love for these things
It is hard to dislike something so bonkers. The only other thing which is this mad (in a different way) is probably the G-wagen 6x6.

A sentiment echoed here.... one of the coolest vehicles ever made, one of these would be right at the top of my lottery win list!

This thread has made my day. Epic to hear of one of these being driven to the MOT station. I bet they had no idea what it is.

It certainly is a bit bonkers but that's why I love it

Nothing else like it on the road and must have been even more amazing back in the 1980's before we had anything so large on the roads as the current crop of 4x4's

I'm not worried about fuel consumption as it won't be a daily drive - parts availability is more of a concern but now that Lambo have opened a new restoration facility I understand that parts supply is improving

I'm hoping the one I bought is a good one - it's been registered in Germany and then Spain in the past (and bought from Italy) but seems very original and only 15000 kms showing. It seems completely over-engineered and no surprise it weighs 3 tonnes. My next priority is a Quicksilver exhaust nuts

These are fantastic, I had sort of forgotten about them, almost more of a myth/legend than a car to most, cant see I have ever seen one in the flesh, always seems like a Haute Couture Italian Humvee, only 328 ever made, wonder how many are left ?

You really need to dress in full Gulf State ensemble to complete the 1980s Sheikh look.

PH really does produce gems sometimes.

I've got to ask, how did you arrive at the thinking of one, or did it just come up and you thought you'd have a go?

I know we all love something bonkers (and this looks down on bonkers from a great height in so many ways!) but to actually have the means and the wherewithall to actually say - yup, I'll take - it is something entirely different!

I can't find the review Clarkson did on old top gear where he made a whole street back up in one - but Jay Leno's not a bad alternative.

Good question!

My brother and I have always been big Lambo fans for a number of years and the fact we both shared this passion had the benefit of meaning we could split the costs with joint ownership. We bought our first Lambo, a Countach QV, back in 1997 (when prices were sensible) and have been lucky enough to have owned a further 7 over the years - the last being a Murcielago which we didn't really gel with.

We realised the 1980's was the real Lambo decade we had the most passion for and given the crazy prices Countach's have climbed to and the fact we'd already owned some before and how impractical they are we got on to the LM002 (you probably wouldn't argue they are practical but definitely more usable!)

We've both loved them over the years and it's great they are still within reach (just) so we grabbed one while we could. The problem has been finding a good one as there are a lot of dogs out there and/or dealers asking silly money.

It's one of those cars that just makes you smile/ laugh out loud when you see it and I can't wait to do a few jaunts in it

And thanks for linking to the Jay Leno vid - I watched it numerous times pre-purchase! There's also a great one if you search under "LM002 Quicksilver Night Drive"

Great stuff mate, I think you should take it to a Greenpeace meeting as its maiden voyage.

@Ross - I saw that one but there is an actual fairly long review where he goes on about the tyres in sand etc and fuel - its a red one he's in, it might have been in one of his early video I think.

Top marks - an inspired choice of Lambo hooliganry. biggrin
