Why are merc inflexible on options (i.e you cant delete drug dealer glass tint from a pack, or just have the speaker upgrade without getting the pano roof) where as audi will pretty much let you spec any combination you like and will even let you pick your own colour of paint or leather ?

I've come to the conclusion that UK owners are second class citizens to MB, so don't offer choice, such as not being able to the temperature gauge on all the time. I did finally manage to get one with a light interior and non low profile tyres. Pity they assume having a sunroof to lighten the interior means you want a dark headlining.

Still won't bother them again.

I suspect MBUK wants to commoditise the operation with minimal differences between cars of the same model type. I assume this makes the leasing/finance/re-sale modelling a lot more reliable as there are no oddball specifications. For most customers this is fine: they just want the same Mercedes as their friend in sales down the corridor and their chum in distribution on that unit on the other side of the retail park. However it is getting to the point where there isn't even a colour choice: you can have black, white or grey. Nor is there an engine choice: four cylinder diesel or... four cylinder diesel. I find it interesting that in other markets much wider choices are available.
