A cabriolet version is also coming.
Wowsers that's a scary thought! Will it still be a 4 door? Imagine the additional weight. How would you make a cabrio of that size not flex? Will be interesting to see if they actually do build it.

To me it looks very much as though they have made significant improvements to the appearance of the rear end of the car. If you look at the side view of the old car and any view of the rear, the new one is much better.
Its still got that stretched 911 thing going on though, and i suspect the only reason im not sitting here dry heaving at the sight of the pics is that ive seen the previous one enough to get somewhat used to it.

Id have quite literally anything else in the segment, 640GC, Quattroporte (Ghibli?), S7?
I wasn't saying it was pretty, merely stating it doesn't look identical to the previous car. I think it is a significant improvement on the old car, but agreed there are better looking things out there.

Personally I think it should have looked more like the shooting brake from the rear:-
The shooting brake is on the cards allegedly...

On a side note (not aimed at you Tuvra) How old are the 'enthusiasts' complaining that it looks too much like the previous one?
I'm hoping just old enough to type, as Porsche's MO is just that, small incremental evolutionary steps. Dur. Was anyone really expecting revolution here? a ground up re-engineered saloon perhaps... come on....
Actually irony alert PH's find something obvious to moan about and moan shock... I should think more before I type hehe

Initial Cayenne and Panamera, not good at all.
Via facelift and overhaul, they have both been fiddled with to the point they become, acceptable, or even good.
Obviously it's a shame these high paid designers couldn't come out with such creations straight out of the box.

I think this looks rather lovely. The original whilst fat and ungainly had quite some road presence, and (whilst hating the idea) was very colour/wheel sensitive. I think when seen in the metal on the road, this'll look pretty damn good.

I rated my 4S as possibly the best car I have ever owned. Hoping the estate version gets produced. Likely I reckon. Tony Robinson, Founder, International Engine of the Year Awards.

It is, the turbo spoiler always worked like this. I think it's also on the GTS but not the regular lower models.

Same here. Most won't agree. I'm not really a big fan or Porsche's apart from these and GT3 RS's.

Last one was too ugly to live with but I want one of these. Black / Graphite GTS with Carbon and Beige interior after 2yrs depreciation. smile

Interior looks awesome, right mix of tech and sportiness. Like a lower slung S-Class Coupe cabin.

Exterior wise, that wing is a bit overdone but overall a great bumlift on the old fat arse.

Anyone else wondering if these rear passenger screens that are appearing (7 series etc.) are going to be a menace with either Children or Childish passengers, I wonder can they be disconnected for Media especially.

Roll on 2018.....

I've always been interested in the idea of a 4 door Porsche but the execution of the previous Panamera left a bit to be desired. Admittedly it was quite a nice thing to drive but I just couldn't get over the looks, what were Porsche thinking?

This new one still won't be winning any beauty pageants but it's much improved and a lot more cohesive then the old one to a point where I could actually live with the looks. It's a shame then that I don't have a spare £100k lying around to buy one. However if their is one thing that you can count on with a Panamera is that they suffer from EPIC depreciation. I look forward to perusing the ads for these in 3 years time. If someone could spec one in something other than the usual colours that would be great. They are going to appreciate no matter what you do so no point in sticking with boring resale black\grey wink

Couple of years of depreciation and one of the smaller petrol versions may be on my driveway - don't think I could run to, or keep my license with the Turbo. I've always liked the Panamera as a left-field choice and I think this is a good evolution. The fact that Clarkson and most of the motoring press bore on about it being (subjectively) bad looking makes me like it more.

A lovely thing inside and out (in pictures).

Profile still lacks drama (mainly a lack of 'tension' in the C pillar), but front and back a vast improvement.

Err people keep mentioning the shooting brake, apart from the stupid name, what's the difference between a shooting brake and this version?
