How about a Qashqai or Juke? Not to throw more options at you, but both are reliable and should suit her needs
I have a Juke and my girlfriend hates it with a passion! Women are strange creatures who generally want to drive/be seen in upmarket cars that look expensive. No idea why...

As for the OP's question: Evoque without question.

Sportage is much nicer to drive than the Qashqai.

However, if the OP's wife wants an Evoque and has set her heart on one she's going to resent being forced into something else. Can she, or the OP, live with five or six years of driving one thing wishing it was something else, lusting after an Evoque every time she sees one? Chances are, if he makes her get a Kia, or anything other than the Evoque, it'll end up getting swapped for an Evoque sooner than he intended the car to be changed again.
I think not, the OP has said his Mrs is not really interested in cars. Sure she'll state an opinion but that doesn't mean it's something she really cares about; my Mrs would ask me for my view on new curtains but whatever she got I wouldn't care and by tomorrow I'd have forgotten what the choices were.

ETA, OP, the Honda would be well worth a look.
He said she got really excited about the Evoque and to say she loved it would be an understatement. It seems she did more than state a slight preference for the Evoque in the moment and she would most likely be disappointed if she ended up with something else. It's apparently going to be her car so her opinion on what she wants matters more than your opinion on curtains.

Tell me more about your Yeti. At £5k that sounds tempting.
In the end I bought a Mercedes B Class sport premium , pick it up next week

The yeti is up for sale , it's been a good car , totally reliable

Frankly I would have the Kia every time. It will cost you less to buy, a lot less to run, and you won't look like a c**t driving around in it.
