That'd a JCW that's like if they made a Polo R.

Looks like it has been designed using a slide rule and school geometry set tongue out

Errr. No. The MINI has such short overhangs and low weight beyond the front axle that is has a low polar moment of inertia that the more humble Polo underpinnings will never match.

For me it has to be the bonkers Clio V6 for looks.

Polo
Astra
Megane
Abarth

Wildcard entry for the Audi S1 which has a nice chunky charm about it and it's pretty quick too at 5.8 to 62.

Fabulous looking thing but it's debatable whether it can be called a "hot hatch".

The Megane is a lovely car but I'm now quite partial to the red Golf Gti's as imo they look better than the Golf R.

Old skool wise I do love a nice 106 Gti!

The Mk7 looks fussy. It has grills over the fog lights and the standard wheels look crap. It does has things I do like, such as the tail lights but it looks over styled to me.

Which looks better?

your wifes GTi is the same colour as mine's smile
Are you saying that the polo is a girls car? It's the fastest hatch on the market, it's for real men.
Pint and a Golf R for the fella... Glass of white wine/ fruit-based Polo GTi for the lady!

Best looking new warm/hot hatch? I'd go the new Leon:

Stood next to one a while back, and they're fairly handsome in the flesh. Proportionally pretty good, quite a low roofline and more of the old-school long bonnet, swept back windscreen look, rather than all the mini-MPVs everyone else is churning out. Needs to be the 5dr though, as the 3dr doesn't have the interesting rear window line and looks too much like an Audi A3.

Otherwise I'd agree with the Megane RS jobbies, and purely on looks only, every Astra VXR has nailed the modern aggressive hot hatch requirement. Only problem is that it's a Vauxhall, so it'll probably be a bit.....st.

I'd go Leon or Megane as an ownership proposition, but not sure how far down those Leon FRs have come yet.

ETA:

Forgot the C30! Brilliant looking thing, from a company who usually make such dull looking cars:
