The new Polo GTi should not be snift at.......Top Gear Magazine had a group hot hatch test a while back. The little Polo posted a quicker time to 60 (6.2sec) that the Golf GTi (6.7sec) ......??
6.2

Auto express hit 5.7 in the mini JCW in a group test so maybe the polo isn't the fastest junior hot hatch after all
But crap build quality and crashy, unsophisticated ride. I don't like Minis or Polos, but I'd take the Polo over a Mini any day of the week.

Pint and a Golf R for the fella... Glass of white wine/ fruit-based Polo GTi for the lady!
I found a few Golf R's and peformance pack Gti's in the low £20k bracket which annoyed me a little bit as I could easily have stretched to one but I'm not too fussed as I think the Polo does me well for what it is.

The Leon is a nice looking car but a bit plain in my eyes. Whenever there's one behind me I always wonder if it's "a fast one or not"

208 30th and 220 trophy are nice cars too.

Has to be the Scirocco R for me. Pre-facelift as i'm really not too keen on the new ones. In Viper Green also please biggrin

Wouldn't bother me if other people couldn't tell if it was a fast one or not, I'm driving it for me, not them!

I think it's a car that looks better in the flesh. Always thought Seat can usually take a terminally dull VAG mould and do something slightly more interesting with it, aside from that wacky era when they started making everything look like an MPV.

The Astra VXR in dark blue is my pick. Stunning looks for a hot hatch. I love the wheels, but keeping them in good rubber is a pricey hobby, according to my friend who owns one.
One of my neighbours has one in navy blue, totally ruins it imo. looks extremely dull whereas others I've seen in white and arden blue look really nice.

It's not just the rubber, apparently the brakes are ridiculously expensive as well!

More of a coupe than a hatchback, but I agree it looks good. I like Sciroccos of all ages, and Corrados. Normally VW's do very little for me, but have always liked these for reasons I can't quite figure out.

My old one was Rising Blue which is a lovely colour. I plan on getting another in the future but would definitely need to be an R i think!

Looks alright from the front, but the side and rear look dumpy.

After having 3 doors in pretty much every car I've owned I beg to differ 5 doors is for the win for sure!

Maybe not looks wise in all cars though smile

They need lowering. They are so high as standard. The arch gap is just ridiculous. I put H&R 35mm springs on mine which is how they should look leaving the factory. Looks way more mean and squat.

Or at least the choice. The new Focus RS looks great, but it would look better as a 3dr.

Correct answer. Everything's just so "shouty" nowadays.

I guess, but as a VW fan, I never found any love for the Rocco! The R isn't as bad with it's butch-er bumpers and twin pipes, but I dunno, the side and rear profiles just don't do anything for me.

Crazy arch gaps must be a VW coupe thing because immigrants could hide in the Corrado's, whereas the MK5 GTI has a really good factory ride height imo.

You think some VW's ride high, have you seen my Polo!

You can fit a clenched fist in the rear wheel arch!

That said I'm just going to leave it as it rides well over bumps and I'm not into the whole "dub" thing.
