Fastest car I have driven, (although it was a few 0-90mph runs) is a Tesla P90 in Ludicrous mode... the acceleration was just insane.

I have passengered in a 600hp R35 Skyline and thought that was amazing, and then went out in a 1000hp R35 Skyline about 30 minutes later.. felt like it was ripping the tarmac up.

You get used to everything really. The Atom is amusing though.

My Mates Audi A2.. rather special !! smile . It's not comparable to some on the list but it would definately hold its own against most. and for me, the quickest car I've been in that goes like a scalded cat.

Puts my TVR's and my old Celica to shame in a rather embarrassing fashion.

I still find my CLS to be pretty vigorous, the 350Z was brisk but this feels a lot quicker, next one will be a CLS63
What model do you have? I had the 500. I bought it to be smooth and quiet, but it was surprisingly rapid. I guess the wall of torque does that.

CLS 500 but the later 5.5 with 388 bhp and 391 lb/ft, would be interested to try the AMG ones to see how much faster/different they are.

Very little compares to the way a moggy, even when not doused in boiling water accelerates, our old Ginger Tom used to seem to do it on purpose, helps having a hook based traction control system on carpet and a massive power to wait ratio helps.

Lamborghini Gallardo, Rather nippy by most people's standard. Although it was so capable it didn't actually feel as fast as the alarmingly large numbers the speedo was declaring even on the twisty bits. It really was one of those "is this speedo in kph?" moments. Made me realise that even a baby supercar is in a completely different league to any super-saloon so far as usable performance is concerned. The thing limiting performance with that Gallardo that day was squishy and pink and twirling the steering wheel, not the tyres or the engine.

That, and every 1.6 Focus hirecar I've ever had. I think I got about a million rpm out of those engines. I'm assuming by "scalded cat" you are including "rancid heap of automotive st".

I don't think I've driven anything seriously fast, the fastest thing would be either a C63 AMG PP, or an E55 AMG Biturbo. Both were very fast indeed but would probably be out-accelerated by most normal supercars.

As a passenger though where perspective is slightly different, either a Cerbera with 470 ish hp on track, very fast at pretty much all speeds, or on the road, a bit of an odd one...a hybrid Lexus.

The RX400h is 4WD, V6 petrol with hybrid motor, and a CVT "gearbox". This means that with the torque of the electric motor, the normal engine, the "short gear ratio" of the CVT, and the 4WD traction it would do 0-40 in about 2.3 seconds. Very odd when you're sat in much comfort to suddenly be propelled with that much vigour. Of course after that the motors/transmission had less of an effect so 0-60 was about 6.5 seconds. Still respectable for a big luxo-soft-roader.

I know its hardly the fastest thing compared to others but, w220 s500 Mercedes from a standstill, box in sport and foot to the floor, always makes me smile that something this large and heavy can accelerate so (relatively) quickly.

I remember when I spent a few quid modifying my 200sx and the boost was turned up from 10 psi to 16 psi and the first time I drove it I just couldn't believe the difference versus it's standard guise, and I will never forget the big smile and feeling it gave me.

Full throttle in the dry in my Cerbera 4.5 always felt good too, I would love a go in a R35 GTR because whenever I've seen them gun it it's looked mega quick.

It is not just the numbers but the way the speed is delivered which counts. The vintage on/off Jap turbo delivery is a giggle and certainly the most forceful. But a proper large engine which wafts you up to pace is a lovely experience. Having tried all sorts of things, I now prefer the larger engined route out of all options.

Quite possibly the best sounding thing on wheels too. With that experience I suspect the numbers don't mean as much as the smiles!

Yes the noise and theatre was epic, but the car is no slouch. He had driven it down in convoy with a standard sagaris, our in car conversation went something like 'the thing about an ls that beats the speed 6 hands down is that you can just jump in and do this' - proceeding to starting the car, doing donuts around the paddock then missiling off, the sag never saw us until the hotel car park

He's since upgraded it to 650bhp with AP's and a full chassis refurb. Proper little stinker it is

Fastest, most brutal car i've ever driven was a 662bhp 2014 Shelby GT500 over in Las Vegas.

wasn't quite as ferocious as a 1.8 Corsa however

the fastest feeling car I've ever been in is the Lotus Esprit S4. (twin turbo) The acceleration was phenomenal! I got a drive in a Gallardo afterwards and it felt pathetic in comparison. I'm not very experienced in that calibre of car though so probably just the way it felt.

Sounds amazing. I always said that if I have enough funds I'd want a RHD Z06. This is the closest thing to that.
