I've had my Discovery for 24 years so far. It's just so reliable and useful.

I've no intention to get rid of it ever.

I have a 3dr Cosworth in the garage which I bought in 1996. And a Kawazaki I bought in 1998. I still have an Escort I bought in 2004.

Guess I´m a bit of a hoarder.

My Mrs' MX5 for 12 years.

My first car (!) for ten years - a Fiesta 1300S, albeit "Trigger's broom" applied by the end.

But my next door neighbour beats me, albeit for a motorbike he's had since he was 22, and he's now about 60. eek

I've had my current car for nine years now. I can't see myself parting with it in the near future.

Never kept any car longer than 18 months until the Noble M400; 2 years 2 months now and counting. Different rules apply with these machines.

Think I had my first car the longest. Rover 214iS, owned from April 2011 until October 2012.

I'm on my 5th car and my 2nd MX5 now, looking at chopping it in for a C30 T5 though. Owned the current MX5 since April 2015.

Current one is on 6 years at the moment. Don't see a need to change it yet.

MX5 since 1994
VW Bora since 2001
RX7 since 2004

All still being used. I keep cars until they start causing me trouble or the MOT finishes them off. These 3 just keep working. I suspect they will all outlast the wifes modern diesel loaded with electronics.

Longest would be my heavily modified Fabia vRS, kept it 4 years as it was cheap and fun motoring. Sold it because it wasn't the most refined of vehicles.

Shortest would be a nearly new Rover 416i, kept that 6 months and replaced with a new Ibiza Cupra 16v. I made a real mistake with the Rover, just wasn't the right car for me at all in any area as it replaced a heavily modified Trumph Dolomite Sprint, which has replaced an Escort Mexico, so you can see why the Rover didn't work for me! The Ibiza I kept for 3 years, the second longest I've kept a car and was my first modern performance car, even if it is a bit tame by todays standards.

On average I keep a car 2 years.
