You might be right. I'd be surprised to ever see one of these on the roads, driven by a proper human being. There will be a very, very select club of owners, and it would make interesting reading as to what that list comprises of.And as to some of the comments about 'nice people - very down to earth' owning these, god I hope so. Not sure why everyone rushes to defended the few perhaps genuine nice guys that might own these that I haven't mentioned, whereas I'm pretty sure that a "large proportion" of owners probably stepped all over people all their lives to get into the position to be able to own these 'invite only' hypercars.
"Massive generalisation" they say: no, probably not, is my view. You don't become a billionaire by being a saint.

I'm sure Gordon is a very nice man and treats all people the same. I've never met him.

Let me tell you how they made their cash;
1st Owned a large transport company in the EU and sold to trade buyer. Now makes wines in his vineyard and consults for the British government. Lovely chap
2nd Part owner in an industrial safety company, over a decade sold and resold to three private equity firms and finally to 3M for $2.5b. Extremely smart guy, now flies his own planes and has invested in two smaller companies. By the way he also made a load of us extremely wealthy by letting us share in this. He's shrewd and charming but honest too. Also has a series one mx5!!
3rd Prints bibles in HK, avid car collector and has many unique cars in a warehouse in HK, also used to race Porsches. Loves to go to Nurburgring and Japan drifting. Generous chap, friend of Luca Montezemolo and will talk all afternoon about cars.
4th Has a textile factory in Shenzen China, makes all the Brawn cases and Pinot Ricard drink holders, been to his factory many times, he's one of the few employers who air conditions his plant so subsequently has no vacancies and little staff turnover. He's a friend of mine, not a car nut like many of us but loves British engineering and let's me drive his DBS when I'm in HK.
All of these guys are worth between $50m to 1b and not one is like you say.

Absolutely agree.Gates certainly never bought an expensive car on a whim.
Except for the 959 (the one that was pretty much the pinnacle of car technology and pricing when new) and was purchased despite not being able to use it in the USA......

Well not totally irrelevant, I've not seen evidence of them exploiting people in the sense Spur refers to. They're certainly not the co-cks he makes out high wealth people to be.
But as someone else said, why bother to have a car like this in the UK, the weather is s
te, there's speed control everywhere and a even on car forums many people come across as resentful and miserable, I'd shudder to think of the response you'd get driving a Ferrari like this around the UK (especially if you drove past SilverSpur).
