I've been mulling over a TA-22 Celica with the running gear from a Lexus IS200.

Nothing spectacularly powerful but it'd look good and sound nice.

Z Cars Mini

Everything else I would either keep original or buy the modern version.

I am going to cheat though and say I could find space for a Vicarage Mk2 Jag but only if it was done in the 80s and I am not being expected to pay E-Type money.

I have in mine the later 405 mi16 engine on throttle bodies and emerald management. It's in keeping, a modernish upgrade and gives me another 70 horses.

Requires a lot of work but the 206 GTI 180 engine in factory tune with the nice exhaust would have good manners etc.

Great topic. Although not the greatest engine the Nissan 370Z V6 in the back of my Clio V6 would be interesting!

Pro-touring spec, Chevy Monte Carlo Ss with a lsx 454-cubic-inch crate motor with a supercharger, good for 840 hp and 790 lb-ft.

I've always had a soft spot for the Spitfire and GT6 and think a modernised version of either would be quite tasty

What about something like an MG MIdget on Suzuki Cappuccino running gear tho?

Whilst a Singer is a thing of beauty, even to someone like me who isn't particularly a fan of Porsche, I think my preference would be an Interceptor R by Jensen International Automotive.

Bare shell rebuild, modern running gear and LS power (either LS3 or LS9 supercharged).

A bit like the one-off Micra thing that Nissan created?

EVO ran it in their Fast Fleet for a while, a few years ago. It looked bonkers.

My dream garage would be:
A T25 late 80s VW camper with subaru ej25T (25 being the choice engine for a van with smoother torquer delivery)
OR subaru Boxer diesel would be neat too.

A classic shape mini with 1.4 motor out of the hayabusa with sequential box

And an LS swap land rover, most likely a defender 90

GT6 was the first one that popped into my head when I read the topic title. Engine bay looks like it might be restricted to a 4-pot of some sort though so likely an MX5 lump.

GT-R engine in a 240Z (been done many times)

1.0 Ecoboost in a classic Mini (as said above)

Anything else in a Smart Roadster - MR2, VTEC, GSX-R bike, new Twingo/Smart 0.9 turbo (if this is too new, fair enough, just saying)

Such an amazing shape.

I'd disagree about the S55 though, far too civised. An S50B32 or S54 (e36/e46 M3) would be much better. Or maybe an S62 from the e39 M5.

However, BMW basically did that with this:

I put a 306 GTI6 engine in mine and it went very nicely. Would have been great to have had the time, money and inclination to do a comprehensive rebuilt/repaint at the time.

I would have thought most of the really modern 3 banger turbos wouldn't be quite as much fun as a big (ish) displacement 4 pot with a loud exhaust!

I'd love to see someone do a baby Elan with something like the MX5's lump in it. There's a few DIY Ford Zetec conversions out there but as far as I know, no companies do complete turn-key modernisation packages.
