With no hybrid or diesel option, I can't see them selling many here.

It looks vaguely OK to me, no worse than the norm for small SUVs and far better than some (yes I'm looking at you, X1).

Saw the advert and thought it looked vile.

Drove by the MG dealership near me and thought it still looked vile.

I've only seen maybe 5 MG 6's since their release. I can't imagine I'll see any of their new creation. It's a shame what happened to MG

Chinese tat. Really winds me up. BL started the downward slide but it's really the final straw seeing rubbish like this being associated with what was once a proud, world famous brand.

Some unfair comments about MG on here. I'm sure that back in the 1950s, the cars were second to none, however anyone under the age of 43 (which I am) will only know MG as a company that made cars that broke down a lot or were a bit st (or both) - be that MGB, Metro, Maestro or Montego. To say the company has been ruined by Chinese ownership is well, just wrong really. What was there to ruin?

I had an MG6 for a couple of years and to sum up I would have to say "better than I expected". Apart from a window motor, nothing went wrong - it was very reliable. Went to France in it a couple of times and even sitting in traffic in 35' heat with the aircon on near Nantes it never even threatened to overheatlaugh

The dealers and parts availability can be very hit and miss though. The dealer I used originally (in Wigan) was st. If there was a car on fire in front of them they'd have taken an hour to diagnose it & a further hour to agree what to do about it. Luckily, a dealer more local to me (in Nelson) took on the MG franchise and they were miles better.

All that said, I wouldn't buy a new MG - they make much more sense used.

So nothing much has changed then - they were dreadful back in the 60s and the 70s then pretty much died in the 80s!

Tired worn-out old garbage cobbled together from whatever bits they could find cheaply - standard MG approach!

Why would you?.......

Looks like all the other SUVs out there. The 1.5 engine is shared with GM so some creditability. look at the price against a Dacia and you get more for your money if that is what you want.

I'm hoping the brand will be put out of it's misery and the Chinese will cut their losses.

It's about the same size as a duster.

The GS model starts at £14995 with a petrol engine.

For £12895 you can have a Laureate petrol duster which has pretty much the same spec (and arguably a better brand) and you could even have a Prestoge model with lots of extra kit for £14495 with a Diesel engine!

Does well in China, I think it is only in the the UK to keep its Britishness for the Chinese.

Is that the aspiration one, where the family (wait for it) use the MG to go out for a Pizza? Now that really is a life style to be jealous of.

100% this. MG are now cars that will get you to your destination, which is a massive step up from the BL days.

Most MG dealers I see are tacked onto the side of rural petrol stations. If you're really not that into cars, a local and friendly dealer is quite a big plus. Rural places tend to have old people, exactly the type of person who will buy this type of car. They are never going to top the sales charts, but I think they will do ok.

No. There is an MG dealer near me and the cars just look crap. I've looked around the MG3 and it is on level with a Dacia. Fair enough they are budget cars and are aimed at a certain market. MG3 is probably a good little car for a new driver. Saying that, there are way better cars for the money such a small Toyota Yaris, Citreon C1, VW UP.

personally I don't see much wrong with it. If it wasn't for MG's massive depreciation values I would of bought a 6 a while ago.
