RE: Porsche 718 Cayman S: PH Videoblog
Discussion
For what it's worth, I'd agree that it is seems to be (as one would expect) a much more interesting proposition than the majority of more prosaic 4 cylinder turbo engines. It is likely much better suited than the average example of 4 cylinder FI engines to this application and will certainly offer more performance, more of the time. For me personally it loses something by not sounding (or likely responding) in a more exotic way like the six - in my opinion you can enjoy that engine like a musical instrument at a variety of speeds / loads in a way that for me a 4 cylinder doesn't offer (even the best, like certain Honda or Alfa lumps don't quite match a good six for me, whether straight, vee or boxer).
I'm sure it's still fabulous car though. Just a less appealing for some of us.
I accept that I am not likely to be permitted to hold this opinion with any authority until I've driven the later car. But there it is.

I have wanted a Cayman for years but if I were to buy now I'd be looking for a flat six rather than a new four cylinder, I have no doubt that this is a superb machine but the NA six just pushes all the right buttons for me.
Same - it'd have to be a low mileage in as good a condition/as news as I could find flat six for me, if I were able to buy one (sadly not).Ozzie Osmond said:

Dan, which road is that?
Looks like some of the roads across North Yorks moorsIt's the B1257 out of Helmsley. Very popular with bikers and camera vans! And the RAF - one of my filming runs had to be aborted after getting buzzed by a pair of Typhoons also 'enjoying' the route of the road, albeit somewhat faster and probably less fearful of said camera vans.

I've probably ridden it once or twice a long time ago. Maybe time to check it out again in a car.

Camera vans? So that will have been 7500rpm in first gear then, not 3rd, definitely not 3rd.... It's the B1257 out of Helmsley. Very popular with bikers and camera vans!
