looks like vw are starting to bring out a few deals ready for 66 plate etc, although I believe the golf wait times are getting long again - maybe why they are offering the estate only?.
VW dealership told me it's a 12-14 week wait last night (can't remember detail as salesman had just given me PCP figures and I was trying to get myself back up off the floor without laughing at him) and today I was told by a lease agent it's a 22 week wait for a Golf 5dr R DSG. He said something about there not being enough parts for the DSG gearbox but suspect there was a little bit of a spin to get me to pick something from the stock list.

Whichever; it's 2017 before you're getting one that isn't at or en-route to the dealership so you may be looking at a 17 plate!!

PCP
Car is registered in your name, you are legal owner
You borrow the full invoice price of the car + interest
Deposit & payments calculated to leave you with a guaranteed minimum future value (GMFV or balloon payment)
At end of term, pay balloon and keep car, hand it back with nothing to pay (save a sneaky fee) or negotiate a new deal using any equity in the car (valuation minus balloon) as deposit on a new deal.

Lease
Car is normally registered by lease company and they are the legal owner
Road tax normally included for term (subject to any variations though)
You normally borrow only the sum of the payments (some finance houses use full value though - can affect credit rating).
Initial rental (not deposit!) and payments are all you need to pay.
At end of term, hand car back. There is usually no option to buy.

The principal with PCP, and the way it seemed to work in the past, is that it is possible to build equity with successive deals as the balloon should allow any equity to remain or even increase by a modest amount each time, in effect your 'reward' for buying another car from the dealer.

In practice nowadays the balloons are usually too low to do anything with, leaving many PCP deals in a position where you effectively have to fork out for a new deposit or, if you were daft enough to pay a large deposit, watch as its value is eroded come the new finance calculations.

Lease deals seem to be flavour of the month, good PCP deals are much rarer than they used to be and rely on your skill as a negotiator as much as anything else. In this area lease deals are significantly more egalitarian as the same deals are available to all.
Excellent thank you kind Sir

I read on BBC News the other day that VW are in dispute with two of their parts suppliers. One of them is for gearbox parts. This has meant that 5 VW plants are at a standstill

Aaaargh - too slow again

Due to various other stuff going on I have just missed a deal on a BMW 335d Touring AWD
Add this to the other sub or peri 300/month deals I missed on the famous Jeep and the A6 Allroad

Anyway Ive found a 3.0 diesel A4 Allroad for sub 300 on 6*23 with 8k miles

http://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing-...

But Id rather have the 335d frown

Im crossing my fingers and waiting a couple of weeks to see what September brings

Never going to happen.
Thought that might be the reply.
Were some fantastic deals on M5's a little while ago, so was hoping the others might follow suit.

Is it on their site? Cant see it. A few places doing the manual at that money but haven't seen the auto.
TRL at babybmw.net do the manual at £1500 down and £295 a month on a pcp.

I don't think there are any E63's left in stock now. I've never seen a decent deal on a CLS63 Shooting Brake either, shame as they're awesome cars biggrin

Same price from Stable, I think, but 10K rather than 8K. http://www.stablevehiclecontracts.co.uk/audi-a4-al...

Push the boat out for the 272BHP variant, £26/month more...

Good spot - thanks for that

The "sport" version looks reasonable at an extra 28/month too as it includes Nav and those cool/naff rear indicators smile
It also costs 3k to spec if I was buying although the bigger outrage is the standard car doesnt have satnav

Cheers

I'm a complete newcomer to leasing, having previously owned cars for 30 years. Now I do quite fancy the convenience of a 24-36 lease, with v low milage (e.g. 5k) as I do so little at the moment.

Am after a fast hatch like a Golf R or RS3. Maybe an AMG A45. No problem waiting for it if there's a lead time. And I can also wait for the right deal to come along.

Can anyone with experience tell me which leasing sites I should be looking at to check the latest deals. Is it going to be a matter of trawling 50+ sites, or are there 4-5 which usually offer the best deals and choice.

And if I'm likely to get anything good value on the above kind of cars. I saw previous posts about Golf R's. If it makes a difference my credit history is v good.

And I'm still trying to figure out how it works with speccing the car. Is that possible, or do I have to choose from whatever the broker has?

Many thanks, and apologies for the almost certain naiive questions.

These are the two sites I check most often (other than this thread). Nationwide are a leasing company I've used a couple of times now and usually have decent deals on the cars they have in stock (though not particularly good deals for the cars you've mentioned). The other link brings up deals from lots of leasing companies for the car details you put in, you can't seem to order the results by price so you need to look through a few pages to find the best deals. It's been posted here before a few times and it's ideal if you know what car you're after. If you look through this thread you'll see there's a few companies are constantly mentioned posting cracking deals.

Contract hire & leasing just pulls information from other websites so there are millions of deals. The best way to navigate it is to
select the vehicle manufacturer and model. Then type the first 3 letters of the model variation in the 'keyword search' box and select the vehicle you want (e.g. type TSI will bring up all the different variations of Golf so you can scroll down and select the 3Dr R DSG for example). Once you have selected a model variation then adjust the 'monthly price' filter, start from the bottom and move it up £25 per month at a time until the search button goes green meaning there are deals available on that car for that price. That way you are only having to scroll through maybe 10-15 deals at a time.

Websites that I was checking on a regular basis when looking for a good lease deal;
