335D a DIESEL... for 5K per year at a total cost of nearly £400pcm...Who and why??

I thought these were doing motorway miles on 20-30k a year, albeit in a quick fashion.
Most of them will be - but if you are only doing 5k a year, you probably don't want to pay £100 a month extra for the petrol either. It's also a starting price and you can then either get a lease that reflects your mileage needs, or simply pay the excess mileage charges at the end because there is often little or no difference in price and you get more flexibility if you only pay for what you use. (Just like you can buy a mobile phone contract with 100 or 1,000 minutes - but if the 1,000 minutes a month is £10 more and each minute is only 1p each, then you will always be paying less if you commit to less to start with).
Fair points regarding flexibility in mileage, makes sense, but mental if you are only doing 5K per year.

Has anyone seen any sub £100 deals?
I think you may get Citroen C1's or Aygos for under £100

Here is what I have went for, yes it's a fair bit more than £100 a month but it's a pretty good deal if you just want a run around.

Fiesta 'ST-line' 1 litre Ecoboost
3dr, Manual, 10K per annum (free metallic paint)
1+23 @ £144.64 pcm
£300 admin fee

I think the 8K per annum was roughly a tenner less a month, don't know about 5K.
Apologies for the late reply..

I was looking at deals like this really.

Something with a relatively low deposit and a low monthly.

I could probably stretch to 120/130 if needed.
Here is the link, I don't think you are really going to get much better for a cheap motor, I ordered one yesterday, keep the Evo Tommi Mak for thrills.

Note to others: non-lease related chat eek

What was the deal if you don't mind me asking? And was it for a young driver?

Was tempted several years ago with a similar promotion, but when I did the calculations, the numbers just didn't stack up. I found it was significantly cheaper just to 'DIY'. Wondering if offers have improved?
That Peugeot "just add fuel" 108 deal amortises to £202/m on 6667kpa for 3 yrs. (young drivers have to take telematic device)

Centralvehicleleasing do the same car (not on offer) for amortised £145/m on 10kpa for 4 yrs.

Peugeot deal includes insurance and mainenance, but £684 a year should cover that unless you are young, which is maybe who they're aiming it at..

For an 18 year old, insurance could easily be a 4 figure sum.

Most definitely will be. My Insurance was £1500 a year on a 1.2 Fiesta back when i was 18, and that was 13 years ago now! will most likely be a lot more now! dread to think...

the Fiesta deal seems tempting, I'll phone up and ask..

On the topic of insurance I had a 1.6 Astra when I was 19 - my insurance was only 1200 with an inner London postcode! this was about 7 years ago..

Why is it mental?

Assuming a 335d and a 335i are both on exactly the same lease terms, it would be cheaper to go for the 335d even for 5k miles.

Honestly struggle to understand why some people just don't get it.

my non-lease deal on a 108 1.0 Active 5DR S-tronic was £150 a month with a £1,500 deposit on the 'just-add-fuel' deal.

I could not wait for a new car so it was a compromise between the spec i needed, price and 'give me a car right now'.

I could not get near it on a lease deal for that particular model considering it includes servicing, insurance and tax.

Probably less mental to get an oldish 335i for £12k rather than losing £10k in two years though if you're only doing 10k miles, at least that's the theory.

Something like this is unlikely to lose £10k in two years (or indeed in five), although the colour combination is interestingly dull...

If it helps I've been offered the Range Extender model with metallic paint at just over £307 inc VAT a month across 24 months on a 1+23 deal with 10k per annum. I'm still undecided but if I take off what I'd spend on petrol each month keeping my current car it actually costs me circa £160 a month.
Where from ?

But that isn't a lease so it's like comparing apples with hippopotamuses.

Not to mention that you can't actually get a 335i now. The diesel is more powerful and has a lot more torque than the 330i, and the 340i is only slightly more powerful but still has loads less torque. And neither are AWD.

Agreed, but if you're looking for a snack to put in your lunchbox, you'd be mental to go for a hippopotamus.

I'm assuming that £370.12 is amortised? Otherwise it is not a better deal than CVL.

If that's the case then that's a good deal. A personal lease on a standard spec 335d has hovered around the £9500 mark for several months now, so to add best part of £3k worth of options for about £1.2k is a good deal in one sense. Would be interested to know which finance company offers discounts on optional extras with BMWs on a personal lease...

Less than £130 a month for a Cooper S has got to be a pretty decent deal?
