I thought they'd gone to a V6TT. Glad they didn't.
B8 S4 is V6 (supercharged), if that's where the confusion lies...?In other news, I went to a track day at Hethel last weekend. It's a shame that it started raining just as the briefing began at 8:30 and then rained ALL day... I would love to try the track in the dry. There were only maybe 20 cars so virtually unlimited track time.
What surprised and impressed me the most was how quick the Elises and Exiges were in the soaking conditions. I think most of them were on Yoko AD08R tyres, which seem to be amazing for how much grip they offer in the wet. Far more than I recall my Elise having on old AD07s anyway. I ended up having chronic understeer with worn front tyres and anti-roll bars on full stiff so I couldn't keep up through slow turns. I had the legs on the straights but then sometimes got aquaplaning under braking from 120mph+.
Anyway, long story short, I got the impression that Elise/Exige can be as quick in the wet as virtually anything else, it's just a question of setup and tyres (and driver skill).

Just done the math (as they say): the average for my NA fleet is over 100bhp/litre.
That is a great stat!Just checked mine and I'm surprised it is close, at around 98. GT3 is 115(!) and Cayenne is 80.
Rosche's F1 engine was probably the pinnacle of n/a engines, but fact that GM''s other car was knocking out close to 130 bhp from 1 litre 25 years ago is also amazing I think, though full on super bike engines now 200bhp plus is also nuts, and I'd love to drive a superlight car with that kind of power and delivery.
I guess that's the beauty of bikes / light weight, torque much less of a issue so high reving n/a continues to be developed there (Kawasaki H2R excepted, that thing is insane)
Liked my brief time with B7 RS4 and it was all about the engine, the rest was very accomplished but just a tad dull I thought, would like to drive an R8 though to compare the engine/drive in a different configuration.
Braddo ref Hethel, when I was there a few months back similar conditions and I struggled for grip on my ZZR's and found it hard to deploy full power in my Elise for most of the lap and also get it stopped in time for the chicane down the back straight, it is not a very forgiving track in some places but like you never drove it in the dry and would have liked to. A well set up Elise for wet my car was not, but it was fun in a tightrope walking kind of way !

That sounds just like my day. We also had a speed limit through a part of the Esses because of damaged armco - an Evora Sport 410 had had a messy meeting at a press day.

I could point you towards the owner if you're interested.
Thanks FB - but much as I'd love to add it to the fleet, I think I've spent too much on cars recently.I'm also a bit less focussed on cars now as family rejn are going to be upping and moving out West in 2017. Likely to end up near Bristol. Plenty of focus on schools, homes, commuting times etc going on now. Anybody on here live out that way?
In other news the Integrale is now being serviced so should be back on the roads just in time for some snow!! I'm also going to treat it to a proper machine polish. Will post up pics when done! Looking forward to driving it again!
