Not many (if any) of the races this year suitable for Pork. They don't have much of a diverse racing heritage pre-'66.

Talking of which I'm test driving a GTI and R back-to-back tomorrow - will be interesting to see how they compare. What's the thread thoughts on choice of gearbox? I'm starting off thinking DSG is best as the car will spend most of its life averaging 20mph in central London.
Manuel is the only choice, Shirley. thumbup

Interesting, or not, how whilst Pork and Italian marques have been soaring, that the Audi R8 has remained in a fairly steady decline down to about £40k.

I often wonder whether this is the definitive everyday supercar. But then you consider the lack of heritage relative to the aforementioned and question its merits. Then you counter that with thoughts of original NSX; Everyone has to start somewhere.

I like the zingy bent eight and the warm glow perceived reliability. I still can't come to terms with the styling and the pastiche effects such as the open gate gearshift.

Then I come to the internal conversation about whether it's worth double an RS4 Avant, which would probably do 85% of the tricks, 100% of the time, and then offers true practicality to boot (bad-um-tish)....

Tempted but not tempted
IMO the R8 has never quite been special enough.

Brilliant car, just lacks the pizzazz of a Porsche or something Italian.
R8 needs to be the V10 variety if anything. But then you might as well get a Gallardo. biggrin

Plenty that needs putting right with that: exhaust, filler cap, pedals, 'plate, spoiler ... And the fact that it's POA. hehe

The current specification of the car is as follows (in order of date fitted to car):

Full bespoke Infinity Exhaust System
K&N Induction Kit
...
Full Carbon Fibre M3 GT Rear Spoiler (90% colour coded)
A bit of mix'n'match going on. Fine if it's your thing, but the advert just screams "messed with" to me. I like the arches though. biggrin

V12V or DBS? Any experiences on the thread? Or failing that, just opinions
V12V for me every time: smaller, lighter, more dynamic.

But it depends what type of car you want. The DBS is much more the GT to the V12V sports car.
