If it's just a dateless plate which doesn't mean anything to you then don't do the DVLA auction - you'll pay over the odds as people are buying them for their initials.
Just a cheap 3x3 dateless (not Irish) we used to sell plenty a week for people wanting to hide the age of their cars.
If the plate doesn't matter to you then ebay would probably be your best bet. If going Irish for a 3x4 plate then the world's your oyster!

Why would anybody worry about hiding the age of their car? I've never understood that. (and if you are worried about the Joneses most people don't know how number plate dating works, and those that do will probably know how old your car is anyway hehe)
