Real Good Number Plates vol 5
Discussion
Going through the annals of these volumes, I came across quite a few references to Shmee, especially in the context of single singles. Is that Shmee150 the YouTuber? Is Sir Bagalot and Shmee one and the same person? Haven't seen any of his videos in a while, but didn't know Shmee was into reg numbers, apart from the fact that he has a few DVLA select numbers.

Shmee and Shmee150 are one of the same. Shmee and I are not the same personShmee used to run a website called plateregister.co.uk where he posted pictures of 1x1's. As Shmee became more and more widely known on YT he had less and less time to keep the site updated. I, and others, liked the site as it kept a separate log of all the 1x1's spotted over the years but alas he wasn't updating it that often. Time passed. A lot of time.
Transpired that by the time I dropped him a line offering to take it off his hands he hadn't updated it for a couple of years. It had 232 spots on it when he kindly passed the baton over. Today is has 330 spots

Saw these on some unused BMW & Rav. Any idea on values?
There are quite a number of factors in deciding the value of a reg number. The biggest factor in deciding values is always what it means to someone and what someone is willing to pay for them. As a guide, usually the less number of characters the higher the value. Forward reg. numbers (letters first) will be higher in value than reverse, as they will almost certainly be original issues by the relevant council. Number 1's will also command a higher value, as they will be the first plate of that particular series to have been issued.Edited by 1602Mark on Saturday 13th June 15:33
In this case, all three numbers are from the same region. The first reg, number YFJ 1 was issued by Exeter in June 1959. Being a 3 x 1 original issue, I would say around 10-12k.
PCV 100 was issued By Cornwall Council in September 1952. A forward 3 x 3 would usually start around £1000 and sell for circa £1500.
100 PCV was issued by Cornwall Council in September 1962, ten years from the forward issue of the same number. Reverse 3 x 3 would start around £800 and sell for around £1200. In this case the two PCV plates are a pair (same number forward and reverse) and would be more profitable to be sold as a pair.
If they are somebody's exact initials they might pay a whole lot more for them to make sure they get them and not somebody else. Auction scenarios tend to bring in higher prices as a bidding war might ensue.
No doubt other experts on here will pitch in with their knowledge and that will put things into perspective in terms of valuing a reg number. I understand Mr Reg is a dealer.
