Winning on Wednesday
Discussion
A while back before Le Mans, I was lucky enough to win one of the Win on Wednesday competitions. The particular one was a Black Art Graphics image of my car. Coincidentally some time prior to this I'd been looking at these very pictures and thinking how cool they look.
If you're not familiar scroll down for the finished item, and image this one A2 sized (so four times a normal sheet of A4 paper), on a black sheet of metal (about 3mm thick). Mounts directly on the rear, no frame.
On the day of winning I was straight away put in touch with Dan at Black Art Graphics , who helpfully supplied me with a voucher code, and their current library image of the Atom. Not that the image was bad, but I agreed with Dan that we'd go down the bespoke route rather than use the stock image, then I'd get exactly my car. We agreed a price, and when we'd meet up for the pictures to be taken.
A short while before Le Mans, I took a trip to meet Dan, and his photography equipment at Southampton docks. Dan took the pictures he required and headed off promising to the intricate detail justice.
Over the following weeks (with a break for Le Mans), I received regular updates from Dan as he put together the various angles and images. It was great to be involved in the evolution, much more so than hearing nothing and then getting the image. It really gave time to appreciate the various components that go into it.
And on Saturday, I got to open a well packed black cardboard pack. Inside, corner protectors and more protective packing and finally the metal sheet itself. Engraved with details of my car.
Apologies for the wonky image, this was a picture taken hung on my wall already.
As you may be able to make out, Dan's captured everything, from the Le Mans sticker on the side (he's also got the bumper sticker, but you can't make that out at this resolution), to the way I have the dzus clips arranged.
You may not find the car pretty, but Dan and Black Art Graphics have done a fantastic job of replicating the detail and complexity of the car. And all this laser etched onto a nice solid lump of metal.
If you like your car, it's something you should really consider, and you may find that they already have a suitable library image that can be used.

thats very cool, thanks for sharing, looks a quality piece of work.
Don't think having my Vauxhal insignia done is going to hold the same appeal though.
Yet another excuse to get a fun weekend car!
Any feel for how much this would cost, I would consider one for my Dad's for his beloved Reliant Semitar... but obviously price would be key

We've done stranger things! Don't think having my Vauxhal insignia done is going to hold the same appeal though.
