Are you thinking aloud that this is the last RS6 or has it been confirmed there won't be C8 RS car?
Of course there will.

BMW said that the E39 540i was enough and they would never make an M5... Jag made the XJR and Merc the E55 BMW then decided there is a need for an M5.

If not Imagine a RS6 MTM/Brabus/Carlsson a bit like Alpina but even more bonkers and more rare

The c5 RS6 sounded just fantastic then really going for it.
Made me chuckle every time.

Utterly bonkers cars, made for people who think differently to normal people.
Long may they continue!

I have a "normal" C7 RS6 and that is bonkers enough. Sublime combination of luxury wafting, surprisingly good handling for its size (if you choose DRC and avoid dynamic steering) and practicality. Had mine for 9 months and 10,000 miles and average consumption is 23mpg (not great I know, but considering...).
Trouble is what estate car to buy next when the bills have bankrupted me frown

I think the C5 power delivery was much more agressive than he V10 - as in more old school Big Bang turbo while the V10 was much more linear.

Don't like the looks - or the NASCAR sound track.

I agree and hope there will be, however, the reasoning for the article to think that there won't be a C8 RS6 is due to the rise of the super SUV, which is a product niche that didn't exist in the E39 era so not really comparable.

However I take your point and think the RS6 will continue.

Am lucky enough to have an rs6 with the performance exhaust but I have two dilemmas - one is that even with the performance exhaust it still sounds tepid compared to previous c63 and rs4 - akrapovik seems the (only) way to go for nigh on £6k and 2, for £600 a certain tuner will extract another 100 Bhp over standard- so for the extra cash is it worth modding the existing car or buying the Audi Performance one?
Matt Farah posted his drive in a 700hp Akra equipped RS7 this very week - OK at tickover, sounds pretty flat otherwise tho

Note: silly ride height as it was on-route to a show - before everyone starts the stance jokes...

It's an incredible feat of engineering but I didn't really "get" it. The fact its so bonkers is perhaps a good thing but a 3 litre TDI version would serve 95% of the functionality......
It's similar with the Merc AMG and M5. For the majority of the time you'll not need the extra performance over and above the top of the range diesel models and still have all the luxury.
Still, buying a car shouldn't always be a sensible decision.

The difference between an M5 F10 and the F10 535d is huge
0-100 in 7.8 seconds v 0-100mph in 12.5seconds worlds apart.

But yes how much can you use

I used-to love the idea of the stealthy uber-estates but we've fully entered the twilight zone with that power (almost entirely unusable for 95% of it's life) and THAT price.

The C5 RS6 or B7 RS4 were near-perfect - everything which followed has been "bigger car bigger numbers sillier options" - I get that people buy them and so they make them but you have to wonder where it ends...

The current RS6 is cartoon-enormous too - one parked behind the dogvan a few weeks ago and it looked like a van! It doesn't even fit normal parking spaces (E Class also now has this issue)

Yet neither is really that much of a load lugger - estates which aren't that big and have more power than you'll ever need and a pricetag which belongs on a 2-seater supercar and...
Yeah, bloody great aren't they!

its totally down to the driver, if you cruise around like a 80 year old (like most people) then the diesel is the way to go

for me audi's bi turbo oil burner is one of the most boring engines i have ever driven, after a couple of days i wanted to drive it into a wall just to get some excitement, the RS6s engine made me giggle every time i pressed the loud pedal, and i would never get bored of spinning all 4 wheels off an apex in third or the way it makes an RS4 V8 feel like a nissan micra pulling away from the lights.

what puts me off the RS6 is the monumental depreciation (pretty much an M2 is you spec it properly to start with; over three years) and that my £60 a week petrol bill went to £140 xmas

each to their own as they say, but if my lotto numbers ever came in biggrin

Absolutely fantastic cars, we are selling them as quick as we can get them at work.

Ive driven a few now, the linear power delivery is just mental, no let up in the huge shove in the back.

The best car Audi make in my opinion.

I own the 560hp version....I think it is the perfect car....Comfort for taking the dog for walks and going on long road trips. Astonishing when pressed for some fun. I've also noticed it gets a lot more mature nods of approval than any other car I have owned, mind you I have had mainly M cars. These seem to be held in much higher regard.

This is pretty much the only current Audi RS I want and would sink my own money into (errr...when they come down a bit in price).

I'm fortunate enough to have one of these.

I have been a bit of an anti-Audi person as i am something of a 'purist' when it comes to handling, but the capability of this car given it's weight is astonishing at times.

People are right, the diesel does most of the job for you but i have no intention of being a rational car buyer. In fact, i started off thinking of getting a 3.0TDI and the man maths took me to the RS6 Performance including the ridiculously priced carbon ceramics!

The steering and sport differential really disguise it's weight, but you are certainly reminded of the size when parking. Within a a couple of weeks of owning it i had done a trip to Ikea, been to the dump and used it for my wedding. It really does tick every box and, yep, i have picked my moments and used its performance reguarly. As the review suggests, it's also just nice to know you are sitting on a missle; no one messes with you, that's for sure. Especially since i have pimped mine out...

You're on form Dan, another well written review to back up Monday's Megane vs Civic article clap
I just want to echo this sentiment, what a well written review, describing the emotional and visceral experience of the car rather than just another "spreadsheet of numbers" review seen in other publications
