30k miles in a Seat Ibiza would get tedious - fast. That's quite a lot of miles, you'll want something more refined and comfortable. My choice would be a a Euro 3 Volvo S60/S80/V70 D5 - decent seats, pretty refined, good stereo, 40-55mpg.

£50 shed and AA membership to onward destination? hehe

Personally I'd go for a Volvo or Skoda Superb.

Hi, I do about 35k a year in my own car and used the Fabia 1.4 TDI for the first year, whilst I cannot fault the car or its economy the length of time spent in the car was the deciding factor to change. I found I was getting pain in knees and hips due to the driving position (I'm 6 foot) and with no cruise control, bluetooth and limited leg room it became 'painful' . I now lease an Hyundai i30 diesel for less that £190 a month on a 35k a year/2 year lease.
I now have the leg room, the cruise, bluetooth and a comfortable environment, OK its no insignia/mondeo/3 series to eat those motorway miles but its cheap, reliable, comfortable and warrantied, no road tax, cheap insurance with all the comfort toys i need.
An old car may be fine but can you afford for your car to be off the road when it inevitably fails with such intense mileage? how essential is your car to your job?

Cheers

In your exact situation... Crossover s60 (euro 3 engine + facelift) I paid £2.5k for mine a few months back with 84k on the clock.

Most comfortable cruiser in its class
