Yesterday, an orange one driven by a orange person with the roof down and it looked quite ridiculous, as did the guy at the wheel.

Yes, I saw an orange one on Saturday.

My partner said "I like it, it looks really good".

This morning. It was leaving the Land Rover dealership. The girl there said it was a demonstrator and that many orders had been taken.

Looks like a mk3 Golf Cab on stilts. biggrin

PS The standard Evoque - it's surprisingly nice inside. Not very manly, though, much like the rest of the range. Feels a bit too "luxury" but I guess that is the market they're aiming for. The height seems like a good idea for old people to get into. Although, oddly, because everything seems to be designed as a car, it feels like you're sitting in a car, quite low down with the dashboard and centre console being quite high.

Why? A British company has designed a product that will secure thousands of jobs and you intimate that is a bad thing??

Not seen one in the metal yet but I quite like the look of it.
A few years down the line it would make a fantastic rabbit shooting vehicle.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the public. It keeps JLR in business, and provides normal folk with something to laugh at. Win/Win imo.

Let me preface this by saying I would not buy one and think it looks awful....

But, my ageing parents find SUV type cars easier to get into. I also like having no roof from time to time. So I can kind of see the appeal.

If I wanted a convertible SUV I'd still be looking at this instead. And it is only £35k with all the toys in overland spec. Most basic Evoque convertible is £47.5K.

And a fully electric aftermarket soft top is also now available - aftermarket, not through Jeep. Costs around £5k

For nearly 50 big ones:

1.) A used 911 Convertible and a hip replacement.

2.) Proof that there is one born every day. Old Rajan must be laughing up his sleeve.

Looked at one in a JLR dealership last weekend......kept staring at it, shaking my head.

And you're right they will sell shed loads of them.
