Someone needs to move the letters into the middle of that very square and unappealing backside.
That photo is odd - looks to be stitched badly.

What is stitched badly?

Good lord. Just been behind and alongside a 66 plate on in black along Brighton sea front. Have to say, it looks very 'Alderley Edge'. And I don't mean that in a nice way.

Doug DeMuro's take on the Evoque Convertible:

https://youtu.be/Z9WZZaM_MKg

I am beginning to like his reviews, and he is right about this, it just doesn't look right, and he looked ridiculous in it.

Yet, it will sell to the rich ladies-of-leisure in various states of the USA, and they know it, hence the silly price.

His comment regarding the old and new Defender at the end was interesting.

Saw a balding, thirsty looking chap driving one...looked an utter prat!

I wanted to burst out laughing.

It's all that's wrong with the UK in a microcosm. ( I know it's providing employment!)

What ?

Really, its all thats wrong with the UK, a slightly naff car ?

Perhaps spend a year in Saudi, Syria, Iraq or whatever and then see if it tops your list of problems with the UK, we have free will, choice and some, quite a few have money to buy or rent cars that they like, not that you like. I dont want one, but I (and most PHers) am sure ladies in Evoque think I look right berks in some of the things we drive, we arent necessarily right about cars, we put too much thought into it.

Evoque man may have looked a pillock but if he can afford it and it makes him happy then why not ?

The original Land Rover was a convertible.

One could easily argue that this is LR returning to its roots for the first time smile

Me too, I've grown to really enjoy his reviews - this one was very good. smile

I especially like the quirks section on his reviews. Shows all the weird aspects of cars you would not otherwise have known unless owned them for some time.

Doug is ace. I'm addicted to his YouTube channel. He's like Jeremy Clarkson and Quentin Tarrantino's love child.

I live in the south east and I really thought I would see loads and loads of these but must have only seen about 10 in the last year.

Quite amazed

I watched one and found him really irritating but enjoyed the content. Watched a few more, now I really enjoy them and rather like the chap. Get the impression he's a proper enthusiast too.

ETA - He nailed it on this wky car as well, IMHO. Also disappointing (but not even remotely surprising) to see the crap quality issues such as a leaking roof/door seal (!!!), and that trim on the door/wing really does look cheap and nasty. The profit margin from selling these things on the ancient and long amortised EUCD platform with the econo-car ecoboost four pot at $50-60k must be astronomical.

To be fair to JLR I understand thier focus with these has more been on the Asian markets rather than the UK.

It’s a hairdresser’s car unaffordable to most hairdressers.

As far as I can see there are no posts above from anyone who has actually owned or driven one. My wife has one in dark blue. She previously had a diesel 5 door Evoque and loved it. This convertible is a petrol 9 speed and she absolutely loves it. It's decently quick, very quiet, refined and handles really well. My DD is a 5.0 RRS and in real world driving the Evoque is quicker and more nimble than the big Rangie. Obviously the Rangie kills it on motorways but horses for courses.

The boss is a proper petrolhead too. She's passed her IAM test and batters my AM V12V at every opportunity. The Evoque is really well finished and everyone who sees it loves it. My sister in law has also bought one as a direct result of seeing ours in action.

I don't think JLR make a bad handling car and really the Convertible Evoque is much more PH than you would think. Probably best to experience it before pouring vitriol on it.

We do live in Cheshire though, so my comments are probably invalid....
