Not really British though is it.
Jaguar Land Rover - registered office ABBEY ROAD, WHITLEY, COVENTRY, CV3 4LF. Last time I drove past it Coventry was still in Britain?

Still had prototype vehicle under front number plate.
To be purchased by women who will never put the roof down as it will mess up the hair do. but they want a convertible just becuase. ( i used to work with one such person who purchased an A3 cab and NEVER lowered the roof) nuts!

I opened this topic this morning as I'd never seen one.
Guess what! I went down to school this afternoon and this was there!
The lady driving it told me she works for JLR & has been lent it for the weekend.
It had lovely red trim but there's not too much room in the back.

I've been driving these on and off road a fair bit recently. I just dont understand the furious hatred for them. They are highly specced, stylish, very nice to drive and overall good cars (and like the standard Evoque much better off road than the uninformed would have you believe) - what a recipe for success!! Yes you may not like the look of it, nor the mere thought of it, but I am sure there are many cars that PH'ers like that most people would think 'urgh' - Lancia Delta springs to mind.

It's funny, I don't see many threads about the Kia Rio and how horrible it is for example, like I do about the Evoque Convertible. I personally would not buy one for myself but there is nothing like PH to collectively gang together and slate a car. Don't fking buy it if you dont like it.

I think they look very nice with the roof down.

I've seen one in person with the roof up and it didn't look quite right, just not sure the cloth-top suits it and I'm surprised they went that route vs. whatever you call a folding hard-top like an SLK - guessing it couldn't be done.

Yep. That's the whole raison d'être of convertibles.

Ok. I wasn't aware TATA had sold the company. Apologies.

So were they a German company when BMW owned them? American when Ford owned them?

If I buy one, I'll have to get it sorted at Overfinch. It's just not bling enough.

.

That is an amazingly refreshing attitude, and one that I agree with.
Very easy for everyone to jump on the bandwagon (with each derogatory remark aiming to be funnier than the last) but its a great vehicle, aimed at a specific audience and will sell like mad.
Good luck to them. A wrangler soft top is apparently ok, an amazingly outdated series or defender landrover is cool (despite the leaks, wind noise, flapping roof and being ste to drive).
Would I have one over the 15 year old merc thats my current daily? Without hesitation, but perhaps im in a minority of admitting it.
Despite the feelings of nausea from driving a skip and all of the other witty remarks, I would wager that- like me- many cant afford the price of admission so its easier to pour derision than to simply admit its not for them.

I would love to see one of these equipped for hardcore offroading like the shortened Ranges and Discoveries you see converted for greenlaning. I have neither the funds or balls to do it myself, but if any rich greenlaners want an unusual toy, I'd be happy to do some (ahem) top quality sketches for them.

Saw one at the Yorkshire Show, looked a bit odd but was certainly getting lots of attention.

Of course, there have been better convertible Range Rovers before:
