Have anyone ever asked themselves why the big car company holding compounds have body shops.
Any evidence of that?

Even some of the new cars have repair work, some more serious than you think.
Any evidence of that?

People who buy a new car then assume it's not had any repair work are dreaming. They get damaged all the time with transport etc.
Any evidence of that?

Yes it does happen. I know somebody who bought a corsa a few years ago brand new. After a couple of years the roof started to develop rust spots so they claimed on the paint anti-perforation warranty. The claim was rejected on the basis that the roof had been painted. They did a test to see how many microns thick the paint was so could determine it was not factory paint. He argued and argued as he knew it hadn't been painted and he was the only owner the car had from new. Upon investigation it turned out the roof was scratched on the car transporter and had been painted before he had picked it up.

Also I know somebody who works for a ford main dealer. Demonstrators and new cars are always getting scratched or dinged on the forecourt and are painted prior to customer collection.

So it doesn't happen all the time and you knew someone who said they heard it happens?

Any evidence of these paint shops at the holding compounds or did a friend tell you that too?

Lol, sorry but I don't think any point on an internet forum can be countered with "Any evidence of that?" It's safe to say the vast majority of what is written on here is anecdotal/grapevine/not backed by hard evidence. Literally the only reason you wrote that is because you knew he was hardly going to come back with well-sourced evidence.

As. With. Every. Thread.

Yes. Absolutely.

However people shouldnt go round making sweeping statements like "People who buy a new car and assume it has not had any repair work are dreaming. It happens all the time" and then not expect to be pulled on it. Its suggesting people who buy new cars are idiots which if nothing is disrespectful.

Granted, there is probably one car in 100 where it has some minor remedial work however its simply propagating a myth by saying that cars come off the boat get wrecklessly and heavily damaged and then are botched up in some shed before they go to the dealers.

And yes, i have worked in a main dealers, and yes i have stood waiting on cars coming off the back of transporters loaded with cars and yes i have signed for cars to confirm there was no damage, etc, etc.

No. looking at a local and respected independent showroom, the D s are far too close in cost to comparable normal stuff. some have low mileage because it took ages to source parts.Cat Ds need to be significantly cheaper, otherwise, just avoid.
