Everyone is texting whilst driving!

I always text in stop start traffic. It's not hard to pay attention and check your phone.
Just yesterday I was reading PH at some traffic lights and STILL had to beep the woman in front when they turned green.
Ok, I'm sure you're a perfect driver (and tbh what you said was funny) but most people aren't paying attention and just being dicks holding people up unnecessarily.Just yesterday I was reading PH at some traffic lights and STILL had to beep the woman in front when they turned green.

A good friend of mine was killed last year due to a tt using his phone ... so I tend to get a bit waspy with people who use their phones whilst driving.
Since you didn't die you should mind your own business mate.TazLondon said:
I'm a keen cyclist and cycle 3-5 times a week for reasonable distances. When I'm riding along cycle lanes and there's a queue of traffic, I see nearly all of the drivers distracted - and it's mostly because they are either talking on their phones or, worse, looking down at their laps and texting on their phones.
A week ago a young woman in BMW 1-Series was so engrossed in her texting that she wasn't aware that she was slowly moving into the cycle lane and pinning me against the kerb, I stayed back and went around to the driver's side and told her to get off her phone. She told me to F-off and then proceeded to rev her engine as I cycled in front of her, trying to intimidate me. I didn't engage with her any further as I didn't want the situation to escalate. You never know how psycho someone in a car can be these days.
Just a few days ago, a van driver was blatantly using his phone with a police car in front of him for ages. He had actually let the police car out of T-junction onto the main road while he was talking on the phone. The police took no action against him, despite seeing him on his phone.
Anyway, back to my point. Why are so many drivers fixated with using their phones whilst driving? They must know that they can knock someone over quite easily and it will cause them a load of problems.
I use cycle lanes whenever I can but I do worry about the driver's behind me when I'm on the roads.
Because they are s who think they and their facebook bks is more important than the law and everyone else. You should have done a st on her bonnet. Why do a reasonable number of cyclists turn into the road police?
It's not your job to tell her to get off her phone, it's not right and I wouldn't do it, but I'd of told you to F-off too.
It's normally them same type of cyclist who go round looking for confrontation and then when they get a bit back they're like "it's all on camera, you're going on YouTube" etc etc. tts
It is my job - she veered into the cycle lane and was about to pin me between her car and the kerb. I told her to get off her phone. Because she was a girl I left it at that, even though she revved up behind me as if she was trying to run me over. It's not your job to tell her to get off her phone, it's not right and I wouldn't do it, but I'd of told you to F-off too.

Why is it not right to tell idiots to drive safely? What if she knocks a child down at some point because of her texting?

Some peeps are addicted to their phone/computer. Comedian Andy Hamilton summed it up "keep looking at your email in case someone has contacted you is like opening teh front door to see if someone is there"
I see clinics opening for these people in a few years: they won't have any social skills, only keyboard skills - either that or they'll be moaning they want disability allowance due to RSI of the thumbs!

I'd have told you that you were unable to English correctly, as well as telling you to stop using a phone. If you see someone being mugged would you also not intervene for fear of being thought too police-like?
Texting whilst driving is an utterly tttish thing to do, it just proves how many selfish morons are on the roads who can't bear to stop using their phone for a while. In general I can't stand the typical YouTube angry cyclists provoking situations and ranting at people, but I'd certainly welcome them to have a go at the mouth breathing spacktards who text whilst driving.

Hang on... I've not suggested once breaking any rules of the road is ok, or texting/phoning etc whilst driving is ok. People need to chill out a bit, or actually read properly before they write their response.
My issue is with people (not just cyclists, but dash camers too etc) who go round looking for confrontation, and then hide behind their camera safety net when someone picks them up on it.
Maybe my point wasn't particually well related to this thread.

So just because they haven't killed anyone yet we should let them keep on trying? And since traffic police have been replaced be scameras, because we know that only speed kills, who's job is it to police the non speed related situations now? You tt.
Your mother would be very proud.

I always thought it's only illegal to use the phone while driving, which I'm not doing.
but if I'm at traffic light and I know I will have to wait for a minute with my parking brake on, I usually will take my phone and fiddle with it, only recently I became aware that it's also illegal

You really are a prick.
Tbh I kinda see his point.Sure, I agree with the OP that too many people still seem to be using their phones whilst driving.
However, I don't agree that the way to police it is do-gooders and video cameras everywhere. This can create as many problems as it solves. Just a difference of opinion, that's all. Maybe i'm wrong, who knows??!!
