I seem to have increased in girth with age (how did that happen?) and I was a fatty to begin with. My Hein Gericke fabric jacket will barely zip up and I probably need a replacement for my 15-year-old Arai Quantum F. I hate buying things like this online, and as a fatty I need to find somewhere that has a good selection to try on, especially in larger sizes (XXXL).

Any suggestions within an hour or so of M25 J13 (Staines)?

TIA

P&H just south of Gatwick have a big clothing department, open Sundays too.

Getgeared.co.uk has a shop in Leatherhead, I keep forgetting to visit when I'm over that way at Box hill.

Helmet City in Tatsfield has an awesome selection, & the young chap who helped me out getting the right fit for my new lid recently was extremely competent; 'sales teens' doing Saturday work are usually useless, but he was excellent. I've bought lid & trousers from them, & will defo visit again.
I know its the wrong side of the M25 for the OP, but really worth the trek IMO.

Found myself at the Infinity Motorcycles outlet in Camberley this afternoon. The only thing they really had in my size was a Rukka Paijanne Jacket which oozed quality but also had a pretty hefty price tag even after discount:
https://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/rukka-...

However I wasn't completely taken by the grey colour and even after they offered to "do something" with the price, I can see it's available from many retailers for much less still.

Might check out P&H and/or J&S tomorrow - thanks for the suggestions chaps!

I remember some time last year getting a little lost on my way to Micheldever Tyres and happening across what looked like some sort of vast motorcycle emporium somewhere between Basingstoke and Micheldever Station - possibly along the A303, yet I find nothing that seems likely on Google Maps. Any ideas of what that might have been?

Motolegends - in peaslake outside guildford. was recommended by a friend to visit - went last week and bought a jacket last week and have ordered something else - open sundays. customer service/knowledge is on a different level to some of the large chains i have visited locally. have no commercial affiliation - just gob smacked to find a business with attentive knowledgeable staff selling motorcycle clothing - recommended.

Hideout leather can do made to measure leathers and textiles. Not cheap, but good quality IME (three crashes later in the same set of leathers). they also have large stocks of other brands.

Bike Stop is also good. Consider On Yer Bike Aylesbury their clothing department is huge and stocks different brands to Bikestop.

Forgot to mention: I have bought stuff online from Sportsbikeshop several times. Very impressive. I understand they have outlets, but maybe only up North(???)

The Infinity in Camberly is an outlet store, they have good range but it tends to be old stock from their other stores so you may struggle with "popular" size. There's a main store in Farnborough with a fair bit in too and just a few doors down from it is a J&S. From there you could pop along the Hogs Back to Guildford and check out what they have to offer. Stop for a coffee at Newlands Corner and all in all you've got a nice bike ride out biggrin

Seconded. You could also come back via Leatherhead and Getgeared which isn't huge but if you're coming back that way it's easy to get to.

Thanks all. In the end I went to Motolegends on Sunday and found the Helstons Ace jacket a pretty perfect fit. Most jackets in my size have arms much too long so that they cover most of my hands when my arms are by my sides - not ideal. This one has arms just the right length and also has the benefit of looking a bit like a normal leather jacket - the shoulder, elbow and back armour don't make it look too bulky somehow:

I also got some matching gloves - so now it's just a helmet that I need. I'm happier buying online for that, although I did try on some nice Bell helmets at Motolegends. Really liked a couple of the Roland Sands Design ones, except I've read that they aren't very quiet. Anyone used one? Never seen anything like that optional bulbous visor!

They only have one shop attached to their warehouse in Boston, but their returns are free and their CS is so good I've got no problem ordering blind and then returning anything that doesn't fit.

Yep, ordered from these guys a few times. Their sizing guide is very good and it is very easy to exchange/return things that are wrong. Highly recommend them.

Just bought new boots from Helmet City and have bought a load of lids from them, including all my gf's kit. Very helpful and excellent service.

Alternatively you have Get Geared, which may be closer, but I've found Helmet City staff to be a bit more knowledgeable. Especially in buying lids. They were very comprehensive when I stopped into get the gf a lid and really made sure that she got the right one.
